Having just taken up delivery of Meng Qi’s wonderful Gesture Arcade I made a little improvised video in the studio today exploring the darker regions of the Double Knot. I used this massive Eventide H9 pad over the piece to add a little extra drama, and thought some of you might enjoy this. All live and direct to ‘tape’

Love it, I need to take delivery of one of those! Makes it so much more playable.

It was my first play with it, but can definitely seeing it taking a place in my live set up now, synched to other machines. Wonderful fun.

For an experiment I used the trigger output from the Double Knot into the little Korg Volca set up for something a little funky and groovy. Tap those toes whilst getting experimental

I watched this yesterday on YouTube. It’s really lovely :star_struck:

Thanks Alessandro. It’s always a joy when the machines speak to one another

Oh boy, a “collectors item” edition in the LM gallery too!

Wow - looks like a very nice update. Verrrry interested.

looks about the same for my ignorant eyes. Do we know what has been the update?

yes, this page has all the updates (read all the blocks) http://lorre-mill.com/doubleknot/

Very cursory review:

  • Larger format (I read comments that it was tough to reach the buttons in the middle with patch cables in the way, hence Meng Qi’s gesture arcade, for example)
  • Larger buttons
  • Volume knobs
  • more blue

It looks great. I’m starting to be pulled into the banana world, and the double knot has always caught my eye as a different approach to rhythm generation.

If anyone is interested, there’s a DK that just popped up on Reverb -

Interesting - I know they are pretty hard to find, but weren’t they only $450 when new? With a new version available (granted for a higher price), the price seems like a bit of a reach. I guess there are quite a few cables included, but still. :man_shrugging:t3:

Price in Europe will be €729,00 (source: Schneidersladen), and I’m not excited anymore, and I think I will not get it.

While I live in the U.S. and do not pay for objects / services using €, that sounds quite a bit outrageous! It is as though now that the original Double Knot has become notoriously rare, one feels one can charge whatever one wants for a 2nd edition Double Knot… do we even know if the circuits are the same or have they been degraded (think of a Xerox of a Xerox, folks, the fidelity changes with each iteration… for the worse). Therefore, the Double Knot 2 may have smeared circuitry which causes one to wonder if one ought to pay so much € for the Double Knot 2. Then again, perhaps this “smear” factor could cause the device to have a certain tonality which the original Double Knot lacks. This new “smeared” circuitry could in fact raise the value rather than degrade the value. I’m thinking now of something like the Industrialectric Echo Degrader where one pays extra on purpose for degraded echoes. Could these new knots be degraded just so? And if so, I may actually become interested in laying down my $ (converted from €, 730 = 805.75, wow) despite owning and playing the original Double Knot synthesizer from Lorre-Mill. In fact, upon returning home from my daily job, I think I will plug the Double Knot Mark One synthesizer into the Industrialectric Echo Degrader and see if I cannot approximate the degradation certain to be present in the Mark Two Double Knot synthesizer… I will post an update with my results in case anyone else is on the fence, as I am, about picking up this new iteration.

I presume there are some jokes in there, otherwise, I’m not sure what you’re talking about with respect to degradation of circuit designs…

For what it’s worth, the double knot v2 can be ordered from the Lorre Mill website and is listed at $680 in USD. Seems a fair price, given the updates, larger format, additional volume pots, etc.

Vis-a-vis my previous post, I just thought it was a little cheeky to charge over the original sale price for a V1, with the V2 now available to order. Of course, different strokes for different folks.

Another video
