I was lucky enough to score that baby and I just finished pimping it with some tasty Davies knobs!

I should add that it was made possible thanks to Thonk new brass casing adapters for alpha pots.

The double knot uses reversed D-shaft pot which makes it a bit more difficult to customise, but now issue is solved, highly recommend!

I’ve thought about custom knobs for my cocoquantus, but the same issue of upside-down d-shaft pots stalled that. Glad to hear that the thonk adapters will open up some options, should I continue down the path. BTW - awesome looking double knot. Nice pull!

Is this a custom enclosure? It’s beautiful.

Yes and no, the story is it was a one-off special edition that Lorre mill put on his shop for a huge price like 10000$ and nobody was buying it, I remember he once bumped the price to something even more ridiculous. It was there for weeks so one day I decided to put it in the cart to check the price was indeed legit only to realize it was the same price as any other regular DK -> insta-buy!

Anyone else here not quite achieving ā€˜relabi’ with this relabi groovebox? I can get it to sound chaotic and can have it stay in a particular groove, but, particularly compared to plumbutter, it is few and far between, the times that I have actually gotten it to Play the ā€œmusic of the self erasing pulseā€

Patch examples would be awesome, I’ve had this for years and love the sound of it but I’ve always kind of fucked at loving it because of how difficult it is to get it to do what it was allegedly designed as.

That brings back so many memories of one summer I spent basically playing guitar with my friend in his basement all day, watching Beyond Belief and Adult Swim. I must have been 15. Sorry, OT, I just used to love that show and now I want to sample it. Thanks!

Congrats! This looks so much better than the regular ones. I wish we could convince them to make some more.

Luckily the seller took the defective DK 1 back (one of the shift registers didn’t work). I liked the sound though, so I’m considering to buy a DK 2… or a Plumbutter 2. (I have a Cocoquantus 2.)

If anyone here has a Double Knot 2 and a Plumbutter 2 I would love to hear your opinions. My impression after watching videos about both are that Double Knot might be a little more ā€œpredictableā€ (in a good and in a bad way) and the Plumbutter a little deeper and more versatile?

The double knot can’t do everything that the pb2 can, but it has its own abilities. It’s really easy to sync to other instruments. It has a lot of ability beyond rhythmic stuff (as does the pb2). You could have a lot of fun sampling the dk into the coco then slowing down the oscillators to lfo(or keep en at audio) range and using the stepped outputs to then modulate the coco. I love them both in different ways and am always surprised by them. I do find myself getting overwhelmed by the pb2 way more than the dk, but sometimes that is what you want . It’s crazy, but if I had to choose between the two, I would probably go with the double knot. I think that might be because I’m less mystified by it. I hope some of this is insightful.

I think this is pretty accurate. I feel like I can control DK pretty well and conversely I often feel like I am at the mercy of PB.

They do sound actually pretty different. DK is very west coast and can sound absolutely massive and lush. PB has a lot more sounds available and the way I use it it’s a lot more open/airy sounding.

PB is one of my favorite instruments and I have no plans to get rid of it, but for half the price DK is an incredible machine - it’s very gratifying to use and I think it sounds incredible.

Playing around this morning patching the rungler outs to fm ins on the plumbutter gongs and dogs. The gongs are triggered by the DK audio into the gongs filter, the dogs are triggered by the gongs. Lots of possibilities here!

I have had the newer version of DK for a couple of months now and have noticed the following things that I wonder if anyone has had similar experiences and maybe knows a work around. I have the new recycled plastic version with black knobs
I notice the envelopes have really sharp attack and can be very clicky. Any patch suggestions to mellow the attack? I have tried a few things, sometime it feels a bit better but I’m not sure if it’s my imagination. They seems clickyer than any demo videos and other user’s vids.
The clock dividers are a little unstable with external clocking. Some clocks this is more so than others. For example the cv pal clock creates a good *1 sync and then ok /2 sync and poor /4 sync.

Any opinions between the differences in sound of the v1 and v2? I have v1 and the range is just phenomenal, wondering if it’s any different in the v2?
