just throwing my hat in the ring on the NLC frontier. great company with a cool person running it. have spoken to them multiple times and they are working on really interesting projects. the main music project uses actual cell matter from the creator and translates that into music somehow. probably butchering the explanation.

also, so many great modules to build / consider buying.

Cluster VCA is really great, and so many others.

Can anyone give some feedback on the various VCOs? They all seem great but not sure which would be most useful for me. Mostly looking at CEM3340, Kareishuu, Dual VCO.

Another post for advice. Keen for opinions on these two all NLC rig ideas. One based around Null-A2 and one not. I’m half-considering a future expansion to a 6u 84hp so the Null-A2 might not be the best for that, ergonomics-wise. Mostly finding a balance between the crazy fun sounding stuff and the more regular building blocks is the challenge right now.

I have a kareishuu which I think is great- several simple waveforms that can be made more interesting with FM, especially the self-mod. I’ve listened a lot to the cem3340 and I really like the sound of it. Can also do interesting modulation with it. I guess my answer is ā€œwhy not both?ā€

Can someone with a Null-A please comment on how well the VCOs are tracking pitch CV? I know, probably not part of the standard NLC aesthetic, but I love the general sound of this thing and would like to be able to use it in a more standard musical pitches context if possible.

This is a delightful listen, thank you. ā€œNatural systemsā€, affirmative

Full Disclosure, I don’t have a Null-A, but i’m fairly certain its the same circuit as the Dual OTA VCO

which I do have. Not sure if mine needs calibration, but pitch tracking leaves a lot to be desired.

Andrew has said if he gets around to making a Null-A3, it will have either the Kareishuu VCO

or Plague of Demons,

both of which have far better pitch tracking.

anybody have any recordings using the Delay no More? There’s a few demoey videos on youtube but I’d love to hear it used in a more creative setting!

Kind of love the prototype ā€œSloth DKā€ (not sure what that stands for), a Sloth with 1 - 3 zero crossings a day. For those really slow building tracks.

I love the sloth circuits so much.

This was a really interesting discussion. Recommended!

Fresh crazy modules:

That phaser seems huge :D.

It sounds amazing. I was really sad that the dog didn’t make it into the video this time.

:open_mouth: That’s a neat one! Basically the NLC Three Sisters.

I wish the video used the VCA for kicks? I mean, I get it’s just a VCA, but still.

It was typical of his videos that there was not a lot of explanation of the patch, and I found myself really wanting to know what he was feeding the filter. The sound changes resulting from his knob manipulation were hard for me to track, which I’d write off to not know what the input was or the rest of the patch.

Still, it sounds really really good. I have a backlog of like 4-5 NLC modules to build, so I should do those first, but I’d really like to build this and the Shat-Noir.

Agreed on the example video. A dry reference and some full sweeps would have been nice. Probably should have waited for their dog to be awake.

You can find good demos on this soundcloud (click on description Muffwiggler link to have details about the demo):

We need to wait some days to listen that Noiro-ze I think

i meant to do this after i got home from tour, but i am only just now getting around to it. a more subtle use case: 3 waves from batumi (slow sine, two medium, but different freq random (both being fm’d by splosh)) and an envelope from maths into let’s splosh, which is controlling everything currently running throughout the whole system…modulating waves and banks on piston honda, wavefolding and weird ass sync patterns on sheep, pretty much every parameter on the morphagene (which is running inop=1), pushing noise through tallin at odd levels, sisters fm, survey on cold mac which is doing…something
…and i’m playing harmonaig manually.

this thing is also really rad when you run audio through it…in another patch i had it in rosie’s fx loop for an overall microstoria-style crunch. could get lost in this gloop for hours.
