I have one of these on the way, very excited to check it out in person. The youtube demos sound incredible

I don’t modular, and I’ve built my own extensive software tools for solving the problem in M4L, but @mdoudoroff above mentioned this module already and was saying it didn’t really solve the issues they had.

It’s definitely on my list. What knobs do you use?

These: https://www.tedss.com/2051000060

Not the most attractive color scheme in the world, but the base skirt is just large enough to cover the nut that holds the pot in place, and the top is the smallest diameter I’ve found so far, which creates more room for your fingertips. Softer feel than the Davies, too (getting your finger got between a pair of those felt like going through a laundry wringer…).

FWIW, I personally prefer the sound of the original ā€œsoap dishā€ Midiverb over the later ones; although lower in fidelity, it sounds more dense and less metallic to my ears.

Thank you. It may be a while until I pick up the FX Aid (I’m presently ā€œgetting byā€ with an outboard Line 6 HX Effects for end-of-chain effects), but I was already concerned about the knobs.

Yours isn’t the first rave review I’ve read about the FX Aid. I’m a little surprised, because I was expecting it to be sort of serviceable but not special.

I wonder if those algorithms will run on the Xaoc Timiszoara, if/when that comes out? To me it might be worth the extra cost and HP to have the SD card slot, display and generally nicer interface.

I fear the FX Aid would feel a bit too much like using a Disting – cheat sheet required and borderline too small for comfort.

So I work at an ewaste recycler, and have collected various spring tanks over the past few months. Anyone have any ideas for something I could build with multiple tanks? I have a guitar pedal I resigned that uses a single tank already.

Yeah, since igorrr is going to the trouble of doing all this DSP coding, it seems like it would make sense to offer it in some sort of alternate, expanded form factor. Or as a Timiszoara add-on. The price and HP is nice, but the cramped fussiness is :unamused:.

Some sort of matrix mixer with sends to each tank could be really cool. Then you can also do feedback within tanks (and networks of them). And you can live-mix how much is sent to each one to create evolving reverbs.
A few people I know who build their own spring reverb units leave the tanks exposed so they can play with the insides; I imagine a multi-tank network could also yield some pretty awesome variations in those particular sounds.

Anyone know of a eurorack module or pedal where you can load custom reverbs from sound files?

I’m looking for a plate reverb with lots of character (like many of the DIY ones on YouTube) but want to use it in a live setting and a real plate would be both very large for gigging and have feedback from speakers. So I thought I would upload a file from one (or if anyone knows of a good metally plate alternative)

Can load impulse responses in to these.

Personally I don’t like pure convolution reverbs because they are static and don’t blend with varied source material. And DIY plates are very hit or miss on real drums and vocals; it’s not like the steel selection process is anywhere near the level of an EMT140. Not sure that matters at all for your purposes, but if you want something to use for recording too…

Catalinbread Talisman is good cheap live option but you would have to attenuate signal first.

The plate reverb in Grand Terminal is pretty good, I assume the same is true of Milky Way.

BAM has a good lexicony plate algorithm.

TC electronics rack units tend to have very good plates, and a few like TC 4000 preserve stereo panning and have early reflections control, so if you can find one cheap…
And Sony DPS-V77 for cheaper option, still much better than any Eurorack plate algorithm.

If you incorporate a computer, Valhalla plate cheaper option, UAD or Relab for more expensive. You could also go down rabbit hole of Acustica, but that has a lot of latency typically.

That’s why I still have my soapdish, although I haven’t fired it up in a while. I’ve recently gotten back into the Wedge… it really loves the MatrixBrute, in much the same way as it loved the Xpander in days of yore…

A buddy of mine just posted an IG video with the wedge… hadn’t seen it before!

Benson Studio Tall Bird. It can’t go to space but it can go spelunking.

I once had the Logidy. It’s great as far as convolution goes, but one thing to note is that IRs longer than six seconds get truncated.

Any magneto fans?

I just traded my big sky for a magneto - I love the big sky but for some reason I just don’t like pedals while playing live - when I get my full case sorted and my full MIIIIX system setup that may change but the magneto looks so much more than a verb and to have the spring reverb on hand at all times and the analog front end, driving into the record heads…

Indeed, we have a whole thread for it! Strymon Magneto
