There’s a company in the EU selling a similar desk, I saw a post on MW about it. The one they make is flat pack and can be broken down an reassembled.

I figured I could throw something similar together with plywood, some drawer slides, and some 2x4s. Took me two and a half days, but I did! I can post a rough drawing if I can find it, but otherwise I figured it out as I went. My brother builds furniture (farmhouse tables, etc.), so I was able to use his shop.

Here’s a wip shot

Beautiful work! Any chance you remember/have the link for the flat pack one? I love this design and as someone who moves a lot, being able to break it down relatively easy would be a dream.

I bet the folks in the woodworking thread would be thrilled to see some more pics of this!

What are the dimensions? Is it a bit higher for ergonomics?

The very top is about 47 in off the ground so my euro and laptop are roughly eye level- 6 inches below eye level. Top sliding shelf is about 43 in high so my elbows are bent at 90 degrees. Bottom shelf is about 35.5 inches high, but the keyboard (motif) is pretty tall and so requires a lot of clearance. I’m 5’10, I tried to build it to be pretty ergonomic for me to stand at. If I were to sit, it would have to be on this taller chair and while the keyboard would be at a good height, everything else would be a bit further to reach (as pictured)

wow…this is quite lovely

It’s always changing, but this was my corner of the playroom in 2020.

Met a nice pal on a local eurorack buy and sell group and he made me this nice simple pull out rack, cleaned up the shared workspace my partner and I have really well and the helmer from ikea is perfect for PCBs and components and such

Tell me about your relationship with the A4? I’ve had mine for 2 months and am still getting into it - I find myself either hooking it up to sequence/process eurorack, or essentially using it as a ‘hardware plug-in’ when I’m writing and recording.

I think it’s incredibly powerful and useful. I mostly ended up using it for drums actually, but it’s obviously capable of so much more, not to mention external processing. I recently sold it though, as my focus shifted away from it and it was longer and longer stretches where I was not even turning it on. Again I think it’s great and may one day get it again, Elektron makes great instruments with tons of functionality.

Set this up as a temporary jam session. The Palette is rigged up as an effects processor for the A4’s individual outs.

this looks fun! how are you liking the per4mer?

After a long time of shuffling around, expanding to 9U, going back to 6U, and struggling with cable management, I finally have a setup I’m pretty happy with. The GPD MicroPC is a full x86_64 PC running Ubuntu Studio (shown here with ORCA up, though nothing is running.)

I love the Beatstep Pro, and I’m going to do my best to make some music with it before I inevitably start give in to my gear acquisition syndrome, this time focused on the Digitakt and/or Pyramid.

I had never heard of the micro PC, super cool… How do you find using it in practice? Do you pick it up and type with thumbs?

No, it’s just the right size (for my hands, anyway) that I can easily and very quickly type with the left hand. While the number key configuration looks a bit odd, it is actually perfect to use this way, and the right hand can be used for the occasional complex chord like Ctrl+Alt+(Fn+F12).

I really like this little machine. It has a plethora of ports, including several USB-A, USB-C, built-in micro-SD reader, and even RS-232 serial (!). The battery lasts ages, it’s fully supported by everything Linux, and it’s fast enough to record audio while routing MIDI with essentially no latency. Because of limitations of my audio interface, I actually use software monitoring (I don’t get stereo without it) and the latency isn’t noticeable without a side-by-side comparison.

Love this setup! It’s quite cozy and cohesive. Would like to hear what you’ve created with the Castor & Pollux!

Thanks! I’m still getting my bearings as far as what they’re best for, but I posted two recordings with the twins in the Winterbloom thread.
