What a great corner to get lost in!

That is a guitar pedal board prototype that I picked up on Reverb. I think it is 1 of a kind because as far as I can tell the company never put it into production.

No new photo, but some recent changes to enhance studio corner tininess: under-desk mounting bracket for M4 interface, 32" 16:9 widescreen replaced with 28" 16:18 tallscreen (equivalent to two stacked 21.5" 1440p displays), and number-padded keyboard replaced with a much more compact (and blank keycapped!) Happy Hacking one.

The monitor’s the most interesting, I think. I was very intrigued by this one since LG announced it a few months ago, and if anything it’s working even better for me than I’d hoped. It’s much more compact on the desktop, and the included Ergo mount has a tiny footprint and great range of motion—it could work really well in crowded studio spaces. The unorthodox dimensions somehow make sitting at the computer feel less like sitting at a computer. You lose some DAW timeline width, but that’s not my preferred focus anyway. It’s excellent for multitasking, especially video-based learning with a tutorial playing up top, notes in one lower quarter, and PDF or web reference material in the other. (One frustration I had with conventional aspect ratios is that video really wants to be fullscreen, and is very bad at sharing a normal display; and dual monitor setups dominate the workspace and are harder to take in all at once.)

It’s slightly grown again with a shoe rack riser and line mixer to bring more things together into one of the stereo inputs on the tascam. I’m also going to move one of my Emu racks over.

I’ve clowned on tiny, prissy studio corners for years; I find them fetishistic, mannered, and too insta-ready. Why, then, have I been way more productive on this setup than with my massive studio!?!? Damned helpful constraints and limitations!!

I recently set up everything in my new apartment. It’s much bigger than the last place I lived at, so I was able to create two focused music areas- one for my tiny gear, and one for my main setup, which is for recording, mixing, and mastering.

Thanks. It was a last minute decision to do that. My skiff is normally too light to be patched on its side, so I was planning to put it on the other table, but the monitor weighs it down pretty well. I just have to be gentle when patching cuz the monitor can wiggle ever so slightly.

We live in a loft and have been known to clean up a bit for parties. Nobody would accuse us of minimalism (or having a tiny studio corner) but it’s a similar approach—if there is storage.

Current incarnation of the really tiny but still messy music corner.
Not the most egonomic though…

I have a terrible case of restless tiny studio corner syndrome. My children have out grown this community playthings shelf that was gifted to us when they were little. It is such a nice shelf it would be a shame to get rid of and got me thinking if perhaps I could make it the centerpiece of my rig. It is yet to be seen how comfortable I am playing here for extended periods of time.

Hmmmmmm, the ergonomics of that set up looks like it could be … challenging.

It is these meditation cushions that I am counting on to the saving Grace in that department. If they don’t work for me, I’ll have to scrap the idea. But I’m really hoping they work because I love the idea of this little music altar.

This is great, as an ageing meditator, I am looking for extra stuff that comforts, but also curious is I could endure floor sessions perhaps with these . cheers
