I would not suggest to do that. Laser beam carries a lot of energy and cats have sensitive eyes.

so much to like here. The M8, all the various mounting accessories, the clever usage of the minirig bags and hooks to hang the speakers. How do you like that setup with the minirig pair? I have one and it definitely BUMPS.

+1 for the headphones, I’ve had mine for over 20 years and rebuilt them a few times as well. Wickedly tough, and considering their longevity one of the best audio purchases I’ve made

Thanks! It’s great as long as, like me, you are ok with crazy wires and clamps everywhere. My wife likened it to one of those modded Italian scooters with all the wing mirrors!
The mini rigs are pretty fun! I also have the subwoofer which is hiding under the Modular lunchbox propping it up. I like that I can go from a full 2.1 speaker setup to just a portable one speaker depending on how much I want to carry around.

Figured I’d share my fun portable setup in its natural state on my desk. No cable management because I’m always switching stuff around to use in different ways or taking pieces with me. Pictured here is the organelle running orac sequencing the microfreak, then audio back in to add some effects before sending out to norns running otis. Also have a midi host-host adapter so the organelle and norns can communicate, a tape recorder currently being gutted and fixed up, and my actual computer workstation on a desk to the left where I run Ableton Live to do some post processing like eq etc.
Wouldn’t mind some cable recommendations, I’d like to get some nicer ones that have ideal lengths.

I got one of the Roadworx for now, just because thats the money I had.
The central divider is definitely its weakest feature, it feels like barely an after thought. Its stupidly loose but I see how it works when the other dividers are fixing a device in place against the centre bar.
However, it seems to me that it would make way more sense to remove all the dividers and just stick velcro to it. Considering I’ll be using it as a glorified ‘pedal’ stand for desktop pedal use, this could actually be just what I was after
Thanks again for your help! The crappy dividers are actually a benefit atm - easy to dispose of/ignore without feeling like I’m discarding a big part of what I paid for

Thanks to an appliance failure back in January, I haven’t touched a synth, or played any music for that matter, for the last 10 months. So after many months of living in and out of a suitcase I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. We finally got some stuff back from storage and I was able to set up a “highly focused” studio desk. I can not wait to get those creative juices flowing again!

Been meaning to share a picture of my current setup here for awhile! I live in a small 2 bedroom with my wife and 2 year old son. When he turned one, we turned my office/studio into his bedroom, so my work desk and gear got moved into our bedroom. It didn’t take long for us to get sick of our room being cramped and messy with both work and music stuff, so I built a little sidecar (based on one that @fourhexagons shared on IG) to house everything perfectly in our closet. It’s got all kinds of holes on the top and inside for clean routing, and is built on casters, so it’s super easy to wheel out into the living room and play after everyone else has gone to sleep, without having to unhook and then reconnect everything every time.
I’m moving from Hawaii to Tennessee in 3 weeks, so these are the last photos of the setup before I dissemble it to either ship or sell off everything! I’m hoping to have a little more space in TN, but this has been a great setup for us here.
And here’s a bonus pictures of us building it, my son in there for scale lol. And another one of it in action, in a slightly different setup with the moog opus 3 on top.

My stuff is largely disconnected right now, but I just used the below to make a track for the upcoming AE Modular ‘ætherwaves IV’ compilation… pretty compact

I was just talking to my wife yesterday about wanting to do an Amtrak trip for our 20 year anniversary. I’d love to bring my modular suitcase along for the ride! Sounds like such a lovely time.

I’m in Buffalo, so we’d have to figure out how to get there first, but these look GORGEOUS.

Is it possible to do the trip from Vancouver to Banff by bike? … I am living in Europe but I would love to do a bike trip starting in Vancouver. How well and safely can a cyclist ride on Canadian roads?

I have no idea, there are definitely some Vancouver area folks on lines who might be able to share insights.
I wish I had done it and could tell you
I have driven between Vancouver and Whistler and that is a gorgeous road. It’s called the Sea to Sky Highway. I recall it had some elevation changes and curves, but was nowhere as crazy as some roads I’ve driven in the high Rockies, some of which were absolutely terrifying

Vancouver → Banff is a pretty popular bike route (Vancouver all the way across Canada also popular). You’ll go through lots of beautiful places though depending on what kind of touring you like to do there are lots of amazing places to bike on the Coast rather than heading to Banff!
Feel free to DM me for more ideas/details
