How do you like the k mix?

I was going to ask the same thing!

It’s pretty good. It does a few wonky things, but over all it’s pretty good.

Edit: specifically, sometimes it doesn’t boot up and I have to unplug and try over and over to get it to boot up. It’s done this when setting up at gigs and it’s stressful. Lately my main ‘fader’ has been sticky/jumpy. And less shocking, but a drag, is you lose 2 channels in if you want to run an effect on aux, like reverb.

Oi, sorry to hear that and thanks for sharing the additional info. Not booting at a gig sounds super terrifying!

Oh, I love that little wooden case that your Buchla is sitting in!

Oh thanks! It’s pretty rough really. It’s sort of more of a prototype I banged out with some plywood in the garage. I’d like to get some nicer wood and make refine the design a bit when we can go to the store again. But this sure beats having no case at all.

It looks great! There’s something so satisfying and human about unfinished plywood. Makes me think of Tom Sach’s “Space Program,” and that’s not a bad direction for synthesizers to take you…

Love to see whatever you put the Buchla in next, though!

I love that! hmmmm20 hmmmm

Thanks. In all honesty I’ll probably never do anything more than this. Haha

Nothing wrong with embracing incompleteness!

This looks like such a calming space! How do the Genelecs treat you? I’m considering a pair and my desk is also immediately adjacent to windows with my HS5s.

I like them a lot. Easy switches on the back for adjusting to smaller spaces, they’re way louder than they look, and they go down to 67Hz. Tick all the boxes for me

6010s? incredible speakers. one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

I second (third) that. Great little speakers.

Multi layers / zones is a nice way of keeping things in reach. Is it comfortable in practice?

I just set it up like that on the weekend. It’s better than it was. But the laptop is too high, fortunately I only use it for recording. The Coco is a bit hard to get at too.

Here’s my tiny space, somewhere in space. Even managed to get a plant in there. Just new to exploring Norns and Grid, so I figured I’ll build my rig around it for now.

Thanks  nope, that’d be a set of 8020D. I did try the 8010 and they’re great, but there was just enough missing in the low end for me to go for the 8020. I was told by everyone and their aunts that getting the Genelecs was a waste, seeing as I don’t have a proper studio space anyway and they’d just be lying to me. But then I have a friend who works with acoustics, and he was of a different opinion. It took an evening to set it up, but the speaker dip switch settings go a long way to compensate. Now, they work really well for my purpose.
