Sure, happy too, be advised that it’s just my layman advice based on my own experiences.

I’d suggest an audio interface with 2 headphone jacks, as pretty important. You’ll inevitably want to listen louder at some point and it’s nice when you and the person you’re jamming with can both throw on headphones and hear the same mix. I have a Mackie Motu Track 16.

I’d suggest a longish desk, so you have space to spread things out. Countertops and kitchen cabinets work really well for this, and Ikea makes some table tops you can pick up for cheap.

Laptop stands make great drum machine stands.

Hmm, what else. Speaker placement is something I just do my best with. Whenever I move my stuff around, I do a quick internet search to try to get them as close to however they are supposed to be according to whatever picture my internet search returned.

Inevitably though, you and your playing partner end up positioned outside of the stereo field though, but when stereo separation becomes important you can just throw on your headphones.

Like, really the main goal should be comfort and immediacy. Switch things on and get to making sound with minimal fuss. That’s the strategy I shoot for anyway.

Not much concrete for you to go on there, but maybe you’ll find it helpful and some other folks will chime in.

edit – - - Drats - I didn’t realize this was the tiny studio corner thread when I posted. A super long table won’t work for a tiny corner, lol.

Thanks for the response! I hadn’t thought of needing two headphone outs before… I was thinking of the iConnectivity 4+ because it connects to two computer hosts at once, although now I’m thinking of having two iConnectivity 2+’s and cross connecting them across our setups. Do you have any recommendations for the audio interface part of this dilemma?

Thanks a lot

I love that keyboard, where did you get it?

I found it in a thrift store around Gainesville, Florida 6-7 years ago. It’s a Model M Spacesaver!

Bought some new furniture so things are working much better. Still very much a work in progress, but I feel like I have so much more space. Still working out where to put the 4-track.
The rack on my bookshelf will eventually be full of Serge

Snap! I’ve got one too. First other one I’ve seen around these parts. :cowboy_hat_face:

(And I’ve got a Godin multiac nylon too. We clearly share good taste.)

Just from that view out of your window I knew this was the UK… Those trees and windows on the other side of the street.

Nice corner.

Dining room table setup. I’ve been living with my s.o. during quarantine, so making do w/ the only free space available. Laptop runs Ableton Live, trying to better integrate the computer and modular.

This is my homeworking space during the lockdown. The Palette case and the Grid are placed on a nice piece of cardboard, so I can slide both under the shelf, so that I don’t get distracted while I work…

…now if I can only find an angled power plug for the Endorphin.es power module.

I have a long desk made out a massive bit of ply I cut. One side is my PC for work and the other side is the modular for music, doesn’t qualify as tiny but is compact and technically in a corner

So many cool and inspiring little corners in this thread!
I wish I had some time to write more articles about them.

Unf, makes me miss my lil’ behringer controller. May have to pick up a second one or finally order a Midi Fighter Twister.

My basement flooded the other day and totally took out my music room for the time being. No instruments were damaged, just a lot wet carpet to remove. But my space is in shambles, so I now have the tiniest portable studio setup going. My eurorack case and one small pelican case with essentials. Its oddly liberating, I can move anywhere in the house Id like to be, outside in the back yard when it actually gets nice, etc.

Damn you found a Model M Spacesaver in a thrift store? That is a helluva snag.
