Just ran across this thread and thought I’d share my little studio space.

After 2 stressful months, I’ve finally found a place and put in a cozy little space for all my stuff. The monitor placement is less than ideal and one of them is not even plugged in since the power situation is a bit tricky, but I can’t really use them anyway unless I want to annoy my roommates. Otherwise, I’m really happy with how everything looks, the theremin + Doepfer manual is a nifty little combo. Now the only thing missing is a stand for my Nord Drum and I’m done!

Nice. A vertical PDU is something I never thought about before. Makes a lot of sense. The floor is the most chaotic area of my workspace

It was actually born out of necessity, since the only power socket close enough is across the door to the right and the power strip’s cable only went that far. But not having it on the floor is actually quite nice, it’s easy to reach and doesn’t get as dusty I think. I just wish it had a few more sockets, but that was the most I could find at the time. If I now manage to isolate the spring tank so it doesn’t hum, I’ll be golden. :upside_down_face:

Continuing my wildly successful “dumb pieces of plastic” series I present the ultimate grid hacking stand. It’s just an Ikea laptop stand. You can use either side for the shallow or steep angles. The steep one is perfect for development while the shallow is great for playing.

Yup, those are really useful. I’ve currently got my Lyra-8 on one. A second one is bridging the arms of a DJ-style laptop stand in order to tilt a couple of pedals to a friendlier angle.

Adding this to the Tiny Studio thread as well. All controlled by Ableton and also have a Dreadbox Typhon not pictured. Super cool minimal kit

cool idea adding the bigger touch point to the pedals. I have a pedalboard with only Chase Bliss pedals that I’m planning to move off the floor once I figure out how to get some more desk space and I will definitely be implementing something similar.

Pretty psyched about my small studio. It’s great to have everything in arms reach!

If anyone has any advice on how I can improve my monitor placement, I’m all ears. I don’t have much depth in the room to work with, and my desk is wide. I don’t think I can manage an equilateral triangle, so I’m curious as to other ways I can optimize my sound.

Moving to Washington state (Whidbey Island) in a few weeks. This is everything I left out of boxes to use until I move, and what will likely ride with me in the car. Also everything I’ve purchased after selling off the eurorack system: Summit, MegaFM, Space, and Paragraphs. The MegaFM and Summit are expansive.

Just moved from California to Washington State myself! Btw, hows that MegaFM? That thing seems freaking AWESOME.

I really love the MegaFM! Noisy, but super easy to tweak. It’s finicky and surprising. The slightest adjustments to the sliders produce new sounds. It goes into some pretty gnarly digital territory. Feels like something that would be very difficult to emulate 100% in software, or at least I haven’t found anything with the same palette and immediacy.

I’m excited for more gloom and a bit more seasonal shift. TBH, never really like how consistently sunny and nice the weather is here. I grew up in Michigan.

When asked why, my wife and I tell people we are moving for weather.

As an aside, I’ve been looking at the new plug-in by Plogue that very accurately emulates the FM chip of the Genesis.

And to keep this on topic, I’m setting up my new tiny studio corner today!

One thing worth mentioning about the plogue plugin, you can load sound files from a specific game, look at instrument layers in the song and the plugin will recreate them for you, able to be played or edited at will! It’s SO COOL

Realizing now I downloaded the wrong Plogue demo previously. I tried the PortaFM and thought, this sounds nothing like the Sega chip. I stand corrected. The MD is great and very much like the MegaFM.

Yeah, I really might need it…

I generally prefer PortaFM’s simplicity – and I’m a lot more familiar with Yamaha PSR keyboards than the Genesis – but they both sound great, and of course MD will do things PortaFM can’t.

I’d probably be completely obsessed with both plugins if I hadn’t committed to an Akemie’s Castle…

Whoa… that’s bad ass. I’ve been wanting to try altering soft synths with my TXi through some Max interface (TXi->crow->Max->BitWig/live->plug-in)

I hope to be able to get some good response times to make things like the MD plugin or my OP-1 lose their effing minds.

What case is that? Seems very elegant

Intellijel 7U Performance Case. It’s a dream.
