Reorganized!

V1/1000 of my LA studio :two_hearts: point of pride: i was recording by sundown day one in the new place and i have recorded all of my synthesizers since moving in on Monday. A testament to macro-modularity.

This arrangement lays my mind bare because all of the tools are pretty much continuous now between computer and hardware. 18 months recording improvisation straight to zoom has prepared me for some more serious composition. First multitrack recording ive ever made in ableton coming as soon as I get wifi :two_hearts:

This week I took delivery of a monitor stand and some tiptop rack ears, so this is my setup right now. The euro will be all doepfer except for the 48hp case, and the second benjolin. Otherwise, I’m happy with this

Hello again lines hive mind! I wanted to both share my setup while also asking a general question of the thread! Just moved. Work and play in this Corner. Can’t, for the life of me, figure out what to do with that back actual corner! Any thoughts??

Hmmm, I was thinking maybe something a bit more… Organizational… But that would certainly add vibe.

Houseplants of course!

Time to put something in the beautiful vase my wife got me for my birthday years ago.

If only I could figure out how to manage the damn wires!

Maybe there should be a new Open thread about wire management…

Maybe a subwoofer would fit?

A small riser would work great to raise/angle your fates and hubs, etc and would hide a lot of those cursed wires…

Buy or make something like this: http://www.ultimatesupport.com/mds-100.html

Can you position your LCD monitors in the corner (maybe with an arm that clips onto a back edge of the desk)? That’s how I’m doing it, though I just have one 29" ultrawide LCD which probably makes it easier.

I actually used to have them in the corner in my previous home. It actually made just a liiiiiittle too space to put my music equipment. Partially because I would then have my arms on the desk instead of my arm rests. I’ve really enjoyed this new system quite a bit. I love this riser idea @spacelordmother just posted. My wife also suggested that to limit wires I would need to just properly measure all the distances so that I don’t have to hide so much damn wire slack!

Gosh darnit Tyler! Maybe we should Facetime and you can give me pointers!

I become a little cable ant… organizing their flow and feeling how they want to bend. It is the art of listening - not imposing. I see the cables on their ways. The cables act through me. It is not my vision, but their destinies…

Also you can buy a pack of like, 60 velcro cable ties for like $10. This looks really nice IMO but it is only practical for semi-permanent routing. I have definitely not experimented in certain ways because I would have to undo this.

short cables bought for specific uses (to avoid adapters, etc) were such a game changer for me. even though it functionally should make zero difference, it mentally felt like a huge relief. i found on amazon a 2 or 3 foot braided 1/8inch to dual 1/4inch cable that’s perfect for op1/z/ipad/etc —> norns stuff. plus it’s not black so it’s easier to see where it’s running at a glance compared to my previous set up of 12 feet of RCA cables and adaptors…

unfortunately i have changed my setup 3 or 4 times since then and need to buy new cables and i’m still not doing it. just a hard thing to get excited about even knowing the benefits.

I would put the monitors in the back corner and free up right side of the desk for other things.
