Sadly it isn’t really an option. My bracket pushes the desk ever so slightly off of the wall, which then blocks the office door. And surprisingly, this method has actually freed much more desk then when I previously had the monitors in the corner in my prior residence.

Hey @philmaguire! This is Alessandro, we met in London ages ago!

Nice setup! I am interested in getting the same monitor stand as you have. Is it the one from Plywood&Friends on Eesty? Would you recommend it?

Ciao,
Ale

Hey Alessandro. Yes, it is indeed from Plywood & Friends. I really like it; it’s not held together by bolts or screws but rather slots together, which I guess may be an acquired taste, but for me it works well. Wiktor is really helpful and communicative as well.

Not super tiny, but it is indeed in a corner of our living room. Still need to invest in a larger display (since this will likely be my work desk for the foreseeable future) and get some art on the wall.

ID on your case? I’ve been seeing some larger Intellijel 4u cases on here. Dreaming of the eventual upgrade from my baby palette. :smile_cat:

That’s just an Intellijel 104hp 4U case, though I think they’ve maybe been discontinued?

FroM what I can tell they have been discontinued. Btw, still trying to decide if a TXn is worth trading the Arbhar expander module.

What size are you monitors and what monitor stands are those? Also, looking quite neat.

Thanks! Monitors are Yamaha HS5, and I’ve unfortunately lost track of any info re. the stands – those were purchased a long time ago online.

good god, it’s evolving :eyes::cherry_blossom::sparkles:

Just wanted to say I appreciate the “messy” photos here with wires all over the place and boxes strewn about, I like knowing these devices are getting use, tossed around, pushed, toggled, coerced, juiced, etc… Wear that gear out!

Learn to love it. For there shall never be a static perfection.

Maybe I could refine this to a wire related haiku.

A clean studio is a studio you arent using!

Not music related–although it is a corner and it is a studio–but seeing this photo of Josef Sudek in his photo studio made me feel a whole lot better about my own mess.

studio is tinier and corner is receding

I invested in a 24" monitor recently, best thing I’ve bought in ages. Wish I’d done it years ago!

Nice setup! What’s the black pedal stand on the right? I’d need something like this.

Thanks. It is the holeyboard which I picked up on Reverb.com. It is a modular pedal rack solution and works well.

Amen to that! Most photos here look like unused studios

would like to gently suggest that maybe people are tidying before sharing photos of their private space with the internet? and that most likely the very first time they are used post-photo, it is messy all over again.

I also think there is some kind of graph you can make of the diminishing returns where a messy studio stymies creativity. for me, it’s once cables become a tangled jungle and you can’t fish out the 1/8" to 1/4" you need from under the mess.

More or less every 3 sessions of wild unrestrained play, I need to completely reset to a baseline and put a couple things away temporarily. The decisions I’ve made during play inform the new baseline, e.g., “this reverb pedal should just live next to this synth instead of running a long cable over to it”. (inevitably, next play session I decide to dig out a device I’d put away and have to run a long cable to plug it into that reverb and the cycle continues)
