Same here. Just create the ā€œExtensionsā€ folder yourself and paste the plugins folder into it
Actually just finished installing everything on my Mac and got it working first time.
On to some Tidal explorations over the weekend.
Maybe I can create some good sample fodder for LCRP.

Thank you both very much
I had to create the SuperCollider folder as well, is this normal? I have a feeling that it is not, because now Iā€™m looking for the samples in /SuperCollider/downloaded-quarks and there is nothing, even though Dirt is making sound.
Do I need to create that folder as well?

No, I did not have to create the SuperCollider folder.
There definitely is something wrong.
Can you evaluate Platform.userExtensionDir again in SC and check if youā€™re actually using the correct folder?

Yeah thats why I was so confused, before creating the SC and Extensions folders, evaluating came up with /Users/Library/Application Support/SuperCollider like everything was normal. But just now I used the Go function in finder and it revealed where the real SC folder was all along so I copied the Extension folder there and everything seems all good. One strange thing though still, the Library folder under Users is slightly greyed out like itā€™s hidden or something.
Regardless everything seems to be functioning, and I have found the Dirt sample folders. Thanks again

I did! Really inspiring set up
Many thanks to @yaxu for this sweet enviroment. Now Iā€™m slowly making my way through the tutorial, but honestly having much more fun making small tweaks to the codes posted about. Iā€™d say in about a day or so Iā€™ll get my confidence up and call someone out

similar to sitting with a looped synth sequence and messing with a sampler or delay to warp everything

way easier than actually conjuring up my own functional strings

Am I the only one thinking about ā€˜transposingā€™ their favourite drummers into tidal patterns? Could be an interesting exercise to hone tidal chops & make the practice of coding less ā€˜happy accidentsā€™ more ā€˜vocabularyā€™. Definitely would be a workout for the ears!

Yeah, thatā€™s a good thought. I canā€™t say Iā€™ve really gotten to the point where I think of tidal code the way i think about notation.

But I wouldnā€™t really want it to be a 1:1 translation anyway. tidal code can be so much more terse than notation. I see that as a good thing.

meant to with teletype but always get distracted by happy accidents

this drummer mapping thing could be an interesting sub-challengeā€¦post a short rhythm and challenge the other person with replicating the basic structure

Yes I think tidal is all about happy accidents !
But might be interesting to hear about what particular drummers do and see if that can be abstracted into a function

That said hereā€™s a pattern I made that I called ā€˜jonesā€™ after listening to Sarah Jones playing with Hot Chip
