It would be pretty straightforward to take the Keys script and tweak it to work as you describe :slightly_smiling_face:

Really? I mean the blo had all that mod matrix stuff below it, so velocity is a modulator, a multisample is set for several channels, wich are set to different velocity ranges and could be independently varied (adsr,lfo,noise or even lets say an attack sound of a different sample)
To me it sounds very complex to achieve but that + earthsea-Timber combination = wow!

There’s already a mod matrix with velocity input that could be extended. Re-mapping the MIDI inputs should be simple, it just depends on how far you want to go with UI really. Have a play around, happy to answer questions if you get stuck.

The recent norns update introduces some new features for organizing params which the next Timber release will take better advantage of. Honestly though I never use the params menu with these scripts (except for global stuff like MIDI setup) – every sample param is available within the script UI and I find it much quicker to access them that way.

I trigger timber w midi. If I need changes there is not enough time to do that with every midi trigger screen shows the triggered sample. Maybe a way to freeze the screen of the edited sample when midi is triggering?

You can turn off ‘Follow’ :slight_smile:

Hello there!
I found some issues on using Timber with Orca: when I upload samples from Tape, all sounds mute :frowning: Maybe it’s the last firmware upgrade?
(I use a Fates)

there are some issues with long samples in the current release, fix forthcoming!

Finaly my own samples on norns and came back to say…just wow… this is the finest samplers i ve ever palyed, miracle of a script with such a live playability its crazy. Thank you so much. Also for the grid64 inclusision/recognition.

Beside my privious ideas i think only varispeed/pitch is missing for me, but limitations are driving creativity.

Any advice about file naming for timber player to have multisample instruments in a correct order, simply start from first button? Numbers jump at 1 to 10 etc musical note numbers arent working correct either without jumps inbetween.

do mean something like the per-slot Transpose and Detune parameters, which are editable and MIDI-mappable from the parameters menu?

This is becoming the center of my musical expression and i really wonder about ways of sequencing, interacting / midi out etc of timber player. Even simple pattern rec alla earthsea and on the imaginary fantasy side, being able to play a sequence with timber player and switch to another sample folder and play over other samples… how realistic is this?

Adding a softcut looper or input pattern recorders are very doable – the former would be simplest I’d think. Could be on top of Player or a stand-alone script backed by the Timber engine/lib.

If i understand sofcut its code/keyboard based interaction wich is probably not for everyone, i am sure for those who can manage adding this functions is pretty doable, but the later example is more of what cruises around my thoughts. Allready asking myself if 2x norns would get things going but i think id be more elegant to add on the scripts.
If noone does after all present diy projects i am doing i will take a look at scripting…or maybe ask my brother who actaully understands it stuff unlike me.

Got an idea maybe its simple to implement.

If we record a long passage with SAM wich we want to play slices of in TIMBER, it would be rad to have a way to load up the grid keys with sth like virtual copies of the same sample to set different slices per key in the genius TIMBER sample edits.

What do you think?

You can load the same sample multiple times - I’m not sure I follow what’s blocking you from doing this already?

Ahh right, i was thinking about loading up a folder in firat window, but theres the sampke to key option i totaly forgot. So yes obsolete

I know it would be weird. In terms of knowing what is doing what. But is it possible to have Timber launch clips from a QWERTY keyboard?

Sounds like an easy mod you could make, probably fairly personal how it maps.

I feel like a mapping limited to one case of alpha characters would not be too hard to juggle :thinking:
