I’m looking for a large keyboard style flight case for fitting misc. pieces of gear (laptop, maschine jam, OT, small mixer, etc.). I want something long and thin that doubles as a table for everything once propped on a keyboard stand, but more importantly has pickfoam or similar filling out the case, as most normal keyboard flight cases are merely lined rather than packed out. I have found something that would be ideal, except for the fact that it is now discontinued and is not as long as i’d like.

Pickfoam Case

Any recommendations?

I thought this also might make a good thread for discussing general travel/case related needs that isn’t specific to modular equipment or the ‘how are you packing your grids/arcs?’ thread.

the pelican 1700 rifle case may be what you’re looking for - https://www.thepelicanstore.com/cases/gun/pelican-1700-rifle-case

the now discontinued monome/mannequins isms system shipped with that case and there are a handful of forum members including brian who use it to transport setups. seems roomy and easy to travel with.

Thanks! I’m mainly looking for flight cases purely for the flat sides, but this might be a good back-up. That customisable foam is a bonus.

“In the Spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of taking a hardware sythesiser outside”

back to the Quixiotic task of finding a case to take my Kirkpatrick Phenol outside and into the woods.

Looking for something like a cheaper peli case, laptop sized. and in the EU as the shipping and tax on a US import would add up to peli prices.

any ideas? recommendations.

btw. Yellow if possible… because.

Found a few flight case style cases, but has anyone found any shell type cases for chucking in a backpack?

You might peep option from this thread? Good luck!

If you throw a deck saver on it I wouldn’t be too worried about putting it inside any backpack

Hi - After spending too much time googling to find the right-sized case to store a new piece of gear, as I have done many times before, I was wondering… Anyone have tips on tracking down a case to fit specific dimensions?

(In this instance it was the MegaFM synth and on ebay I did find a decent hard-shell + foam case that is just the right size.)

cheers

Pelican has a case calculator where you plug in the dimensions you need and they’ll show which cases work for that. Their cases can be pretty pricey though, depending on what you’re looking for.

I also have a Minilogue hard case from Analog Cases which is really good quality. They make cases for specific pieces of gear, but I’m sure they’re good for things that are comparable sizes.
