Thanks, mine is due to be delivered on Wednesday, can’t wait!

AFAIK the filter chips are SSI 2144, modern lower noise/distortion versions of the SSM 2144 as used in the Mono/Poly and PPG Wave etc.

It would be rad if someone made a dedicated sampler with those chips, something that expands on the early EMU samplers, but with a similar architecture.

You could kind of recreate a modern version of that with 2X Synthesis Technology E440s plus Rossum Assimil8or.

Yeah definitely plan on running my samplers through my Pro-2 for that reason, but in either example polyphony gets expensive very quickly. Anyway, I’m getting really off topic.

This synth just seems to combine the best features of every synth architecture out there. My only complaint is that it doesn’t seem like the arhcitecture is super flexible (Edit. It is apparently much more flexible than it initially appears). I guess that’s the tradeoff for the unique sound. Still I can imagine this being amazing with a modulation matrix.

It does have a small mod matrix, or at least mod routing via the preset buttons. It works better than I expected.

Wow, that’s great. This just moved a little further up my list.

Having a high pass filter is kind of critical for crazy modulations, so thank god they included one.

Word is, even though have started shipping to people who bought via UK dealers, the USB over MIDI and Sequencer are both non-functional until the next firmware update, but apparently it’s coming soon.

:crossed_fingers: Hoping they might one day make a desktop version :slightly_smiling_face:

Same here! I’d sell the regular one in a heartbeat if they did. Kinda bothers me that they include a keyboard on an MPE capable device and still require me to have another controller :-/

I’m the opposite, I’ll sell mine if they ever make a 61 key version!

[EDIT] UDO Support page has been added to the website with info on firmware patches, presets and .pdf manual etc.

[EDIT] Just picked mine up from the UPS drop off, came a day early!

Mmmmm looks great in blue. I ordered black but tried to change to blue the other day and that would put me at the end of the line again so I passed for now. I’m torn. Also nice Germaniums. I just ordered a pair this morning myself. Upon writing this, I’m thinking I have a thing for blue haha. I am stoked to hear whatever you make with the super 6.

The Germ Comps are my fave pieces of gear of all time, been in daily use for over a decade, appear on 99.9% of everything I have mastered since 2009! The TG2 is no slouch either.

Had more time with S6 yesterday, is great, just going through the presets, putting it in Manual mode, going through the manual while tweaking etc. The filters are insane, lovely, warm and vocal sounding sweeps.

What’s funny is I was just reading a post about someone mastering with them and a pulet back in 2009. You?! Hahah
I’m trying them on the mix bus  I’m a chandler fan. I was using the zener and mini mixer for a while and ltd1 for vocals and tg2 for guitars for a long time. Never tried the germs before though.

That’s so exciting. I can’t wait to hear it. I’ve been reading over the manual and I’m getting more amped by the day for it to arrive. (Give us a video please!)

That’s hilarious. I haven’t added anything new to the mastering chain in about eight years now (Crookwood conversion/mastering console with the following analogue sandwich: pair of Germ Comps, Pullet passive EQ, TG2 for makeup gain, Dangerous Bax EQ, into ATC monitors). Very happy with it. I love the Chandler stuff too, can be very coloured but it’s an incredibly euphonic colour. The Germ Comps can actually be very subtle too, I am very rarely doing more than 1.5dB gain reduction with them in mastering, more for their overall vibe than heavy compression/levelling.

Will spend more time with Super 6 today. I’ve never recorded a video for anything other than a screen grab, my daughter knows more about it so I would have to ask her! I wouldn’t be happy with a phone video for the audio, so would want a separate feed for the audio, and then would have to edit them together, and I really have no idea how to do that! I’d be far happier just recording some audio through the chain (TG2 DI is great for synths although I don’t like it so much for guitar and bass) and posting it, but I want to wait until MIDI over USB is working, will make it far less of a headache.

I successfully saved my first couple of sounds in the “2” bank, created the high frequency luscious BPF synth chords pads of my dreams.

One weird thing today, in standard 12 voice mode (not “Binaural”), I am sometimes getting weird “ping” sounds when I hold down chords, like something is re-triggering, I’ll try and work out if it DDS or DDS2 or both, as it may be the DDS1 retrigger bug that’s mentioned in the known issues doc. Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon. I’m gonna collect all my impressions after a week and send a mail to UDO support with any weirdness.

P.S. I am crazy, so here is the list of Super 6 presets in the “1” bank, by name, taken from their file names…

Haven’t touched the UDO, but own a summit. Summit was never even on my radar until I ran into one at a local shop. Cant recommend one enough if you’re even a bit interested. The fact that it is essential 2 units in 1 (bitimbral) at 8 voices each is ridiculous.

Mine arrives tomorrow!

I wonder if Novation has fixed noise to audio ratio with Summit. I had Peak and loved the sound but hiss was too audible for my taste + there is really a lot of menu diving in Peak.

I always wanted to try Summit though but then Super 6 showed up and steal my all attention. No menus and sound really good on the clips… good there is long waiting list to tame the :fuelpump:

Posting some observations after a few days of use:

I uploaded a .pdf of all the preset 1 names, if anyone wants it. Link below. Some of the presets are amazing, and it’s fun trying to work out how they did what they did. If anyone can put names to initials, that would be great, obviously GH are George’s, but not sure about the others. I am really digging the “MJ” ones around Banks E and F.

Having a blast with this synth the last few days. It sounds incredible, build quality and user interface are off the charts. Smells great when it gets reassuringly warm. ! :slightly_smiling_face: I do hope the DDS1 retrigger bug thingy will be sorted soon though!

Plugged the expression pedal in and that works a treat too, some of the presets show off its use very well. It’s labelled CV, so I guess you could plug something from your modular into that for extra LFO and ENVs etc.

Tried an electric guitar into the Input, but the results weren’t great because the signal level from the passive pickups was a bit too low, I think. I will try it again with a boost pedal before the S6. Also the guitar signal only came out of the Right output, so I guess it’s setup for a stereo line level input really. I ought to plug my portable player in there just for a laugh. Also need to try the old Minimoog trick of plugging one of the outputs into the input for a feedback path…

One thing that impresses me is how “non-digital” the PWM, FM, and Oscillator Sync sound. Must be that crazy FPGA!
