Ok! I took one of those unfinished ideas that’s only two measures long (the original loop is what you hear at :21) and ran it all through Ultomaton. I ran the bass, drums, and keys each individually through Ultomaton with somewhat sedate settings, and then the track (short as it was) with EVERYTHING set to random (the “chaotic good” pic I posted earlier in this thread).
It gave me a lot of great material, including stuff in different time signatures and some loops that drifted out of time. I arranged them into different sections and then added some soft synths for more basslines and snippets of melody. It felt a lot like a @disquiet junto project, actually, in terms of making something from a given set of materials.
