There are public events associated with the Unit Structures: Cecil Taylor conference in NYC this week. I am very excited to be playing double bass on the final night, Saturday, as part of the Karen Borca Big Band which will have a bunch of amazing players doing great things.
- Wed: Fred Moten reads at Graduate Center (Manhattan)
- Thurs: William Parker et al at Graduate Center (Manhattan)
- Friday: Bunch of conference presenters do their lecture/performance things at Graduate Center
- Saturday: Karen Borca Big Band doing Womb Water and some others, Brooklyn College
I think all events are free but probably overbooked; I have a feeling you can get in if you show up early and want to be there. More info here.
