Things are starting to happen.

I have boards for 250 and a stencil. Making them was problematic for the fabricators for one reason or another and I think they had to scrap a few panels. But they look pretty good and I will give them a good test with the meter before proceeding.

Thanks again for your patience.

Time for me to order parts…

Absolutely amazing! So cool to see this progress and can’t wait to get my hands on some. Congrats and thanks for all your hard work to this project!

Ace! So excited for these.

Woo I was thinking about you and this project lately
Incredible! and how is your health? Is your arm healed totally?
Much greetings!

Yes! I’m so excited.

Great work - good on you for persisting with this project in difficult times - if there’s ways to support more proactively beyond beta testing or participating in general, then please let me know.

Great news!

I hope you and the family have been dealing with the lockdown OK. Social isolation with young kids can be tricky enough, without a broken hand in the mix.

Nice work! Looking forward to it.

This looks amazing, great work @stevieraysean
Very interested, if you plan on Grayscale 128 support :bowing_man:

I don’t have anything productive to add, except that I’m still very much interested, and glad that things are progressing.

Oh wow! This is exciting. I came across an old unbuilt 40h kit from 2008, and was getting ready to build it out… so this is great news. Very interested in this! Hope your hand is doing better.

just want to put my name in the hat when this gets going. i got ahold of a couple as1130 chips to try to do the same to my series 128 but faltered at the code part :frowning: happy to test and try to break things for science .

hello, I can offer help for soldering this pcb on monome in Russia

Hello again, everyone

Firstly I must apologise for the long time between posts. This year has been … hard.

My hand has healed pretty well. Thanks. It will never be completely new, but it is fully functional, no pain.

The last six months or so my wife and I have been dealing with our now 1 year old, having started eating, having food intolerances. We’ve had a lot of sleep deprivation, with the poor guy waking constantly with stomach pain… we’re finally getting through it it seems, but it’s been rough.

Throw COVID lockdowns and a bunch of shitty issues at work to deal with on top of all that and I haven’t had the mental capacity to even think about looking at a computer outside of work.

But I’m getting back into it now, slowly.

Some components are on their way. Though the most important part is out of stock everywhere and expecting to be back late November. I’m sure I’ve got a few round here so I’ll possibly be able to complete a few units in the short term.

Still working through the 6 or 7 different logic board firmwares. I hope to get an intermediary release of these out first that only supports mono LEDs but with the new serial protocols. So if people can help test these as working fine, before I roll out the hardware, then adding in the vb_driver support will be simple.

Still lots of documentation for the upgrade process to do.

Thanks for your patience.
I hope you all are doing well.

Glad to have you back, i’m sure the community has missed you. I have a series 128 that i’m happy to test things with, i also got 2 as1130’s as samples to play with and could etch boards to suit them.

Also down for firmware testing of course

I was very excited to find this thread: I built up a 40h kit in about 2008/9, and would be delighted to give it a new lease of life.

I’m pretty confident with a soldering iron, and am confident to flash a control chip, so could be up for testing.

Might be late to the game here but I have a 128 I could test with. I’ll do whatever it takes to get this to fruition!! Would love to get this thing back in action

Hello

I have all the parts now, and will be assembling the first 50 when I’m back from the family Christmas holiday.

Hope you all are well
Merry Christmas

Nice to see progress on this @stevieraysean! Are you still working on the firmware updates or is that work done? You mentioned up thread that this would be one of the trickiest parts of the project…
