Well I pushed the button last night and ordered one :sparkles:

I noticed a lot of places are out of stock, and Juno only had one left so I got it. Pre-order delivery times on most kit at the moment are really long… through no fault of anyone’s of course.

I can’t find a bad word said about them anywhere, I’ve also read in multiple reviews how well made they are.

Really looking forward to receiving it and having a play… time now to sell some more kit to make space and make up the £ deficit (anyone want a Moog Prodigy ).

Ah, so you’re the one who got the last one at Juno  Will have to wait for the next run. Enjoy!

Ha ha yeah that’s me :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I think Thomann might have had some as well (I’d rather buy from a smaller UK shop though).

I think making space for it is going to be a challenge… didn’t really dawn on me the sheer size of the thing until I looked at the dimensions.

I think that’s a good thing though… the more I play with synths/modules etc. the more I am developing an aversion to the dreaded ‘mini pots’. Having a synth with everything laid out in such a spacious manner will feel quite luxurious compared to Eurorack

that was me!
sold mine with much remorse after having it for about 5 years. i wanted to fund a novation peak. reeeealy wish i could have kept it but i try to keep my setup pretty minimal.

absolutely beautiful sounding synth. nothing like it. i used to love setting the 4 different sections to totally different sounds then running non 4/4 sequences through them on poly mode or just playing with a keyboard. thats something im not sure you can do so eloquently on any other machine. maybe one day if im in a more settled living situation and can accumulate gear i will have one once again, but the peak is more practical for the film music projects ive been pursuing and just more flexible in general. having a peak and a perfourmer side by side would be a dream…

also no videos on youtube really get into how "west coast’ the perfourmer can get once you turn off the oscillators (or better yet use an external source!) and start cross modulating the oscillating filters and lfos. its soooo much more than just 4 nice minimoogs in a single enclosure… it can get very “experimental” and self generative in a very cool olds school ems kinda way.

sigh…

I will forever resent you for this. :stuck_out_tongue:

man i even posted it for sale on my insta story (at a discount, no less) before i put it up on reverb!
anyways,
buy one

I don’t think I was following you then… or just don’t spend enough time on insta… :frowning:

I’d love to hear some examples of this or particular patches that worked well for you. always looking for new stuff to try.

I think the sample and hold function plus making the filter self oscillate and crosspatch them using individual outs into the filter input etc. Can give you nice things

I also sometimes use the Perfourmer as an analog filter bank and it does wonder on drums.

Hey folks, inspired by this thread, and reminded that the Perfourmer would work well with the cv sequencers I’ve been having a lot of fun with, I too decided to take the plunge this week.

It arrived today and, sadly, it is making a rather unpleasant sound. Like, not the audio from the synth, but when I turn it on, I can hear like… hissing? that correlates with the LFOs. Sounds a bit like when I had a power source for effect pedals last year right before it crapped out completely and it would hiss.

Anyone experience similar?

I’ve had the Perfourmer 4 times now and never experienced this. I did have a problem with a Retroverb a few years ago and customer support was very helpful.

Does it do that with nothing plugged in except power cord? (I should précise I’ve never had that issue either)

Yeah, that’s correct: just plugged it in and turned it on; hadn’t wired anything up yet.

Did you try another socket? Like in another room or something, to make sure it’s not groundloop / electrical related.

Thanks for the input @LLK & @Struggle!

Tried on a different outlet and had the same issue. It does seem like it’s not as bad as it was when I first turned it on last night? I did play it for a little while last night and the sound did dissipate over time some?

Either way, conclusions:

  • it sounds amazing; I’m totally shocked that it exists at this price point and sounds so good and is so flexible.
  • I’m going to get in touch with Vermona & the shop I bought it from to see about a way forward to make sure it’s not a problematic unit.

Does the per fourmer have paraphonic ability like the Moog matriarch?

Wait how are you using it paraphonically?

The Perfourmer being polyphonic is one of the reasons I’d actually ever consider getting a Matriarch because it’s paraphonic (i.e. the ability to run all the voices into the same filter/vca).

Yeah sure scratch that I didn’t mean that you can run all of them through one single filter / vca (maybe you could by chaining them each oscillator into the next? I’ve never tried it). I’m just so used to it I forget that’s a limitation inherent to paraphonic.

Yep, each voice has its own filter and envelope so that makes it technically polyphonic. It would be possible to route individual outputs to the EXT IN of other voices via an external mixer, if you wanted to have multiple voices going through the same filter.

The various modes allow you to switch between mono mode, dual voice mode and polyphonic modes.

Right on, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything obvious!
