Vintage walnut monome grid 64 problem

#1

Hi! I’ve been recently given a vintage grid 64 that:

  • gets recognized by the computer
  • does a led sequence at boot

but it does not light when I fire leds from the matrixctrl
and does not output valid coordinates.

I’ve made a little private youtube video to explain better

This is the console output:

print: 22 0 0
matrixctrl: cell coordinate(s) out of range
print: 0 0 0
print: 0 0 0
print: 0 0 0
print: 67 0 0
matrixctrl: cell coordinate(s) out of range
print: 0 0 0
print: 0 0 0
print: 34 0 0
matrixctrl: cell coordinate(s) out of range
print: 0 0 0
print: 0 0 0
print: 0 0 0
print: 0 0 0
print: 37 0 0
matrixctrl: cell coordinate(s) out of range
print: 53 0 0
matrixctrl: cell coordinate(s) out of range
print: 0 0 0
print: 0 0 0

Can I do something to make it work?
Thank you for your help!

If it helps, after further investigation, only row 3 and 4 seem to emit any output, albeit not valid. It may be broken :frowning:

#3

If it helps I someway made it look like this for a moment but it still was not responding and it stayed like this until I unplugged the usb cable. Then I wasn’t able to repeat it.

#4

take it apart. reconnect the ribbons. try running it without the wood case.

#5

Thanks Brian, I had already tried but the ribbons appear to be plugged correctly and the result is the same
I also tried to remove the main pcb but even removing all the screws (even the center one) I cannot detach it from the panel. By its appearance, it looks everything is fine.

#6

seems like it may be repair time. e-mail info@monome.org

Thank you (again) Brian, I’ll write you as soon as I get back home.

Updating the topic for future reference. It was only a matter of reinstalling the latest SerialOSC. Thanks @tehn for sorting it out for me.
As usual, awesome support.
