Thanks for all your kind words! I’m super happy with how this turned out, if a little late.

I’ve got everything registered on qrates now, but having difficulty uploading from my shitty home connection, I’ll get it live when I’m in work. The per unit price ended up being around 9 quid for production, but adding with handling, etc it’ll end up being around £12, plus tax. With shipping to the USA (if you’re in the US), it still should be less than £20 a copy. This will be selling it AT COST, but if there was a tiny profit from it, I suggest we donate to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, in memory of VGAForest, aka Michael Abel. sound okay?

Loved all of these. Proud to have my track amongst you all. Here’s my brief thoughts:

allymobs - nice kick, how did you do that? And with the bass note? The groove had me nodding my head.

steveoath - love the crackly vibe. how did you get the melody line at 1:30?

inflow - very reminiscent of ‘tomorrow’s harvest’ introduction - which is a serious compliment

Polyphylla - ah the creamy distortion. Gorgeous! what is it??

Scanner Darkley - great little detailed high percussion line; interested in the story of how you put it together

angry crow - such a gentle touch. most of my music gets caught in a bam bam bam beat - I love how you have a tune that catches but doesn’t resolve into a beat.

Coordinator - a heckeresque wall of sound - so creatively far away from any of the original samples - what did you do to them??

brahminy - reminded me of oneohtrix point never in the way it is a stylish sound collage

simeon - had a real tune that sticks in my head; and a nice song structure. nice.

Also I liked hearing my ‘land of music’ sample in a few tracks. If you’re interested, I made the recording in an Irish forest called ‘Slieve Gullion’ where there’s a playpark for kids with some natural instruments. Found someone elses youtube clip of it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBcFTTyfrDc - i’m sure you’ll recognise some of the noises.

The melody was the result of me starting to get to grips with Ableton!! I took Simeon’s rhodes sample in sampler (or maybe simpler - can’t remember) twice and applied various effects. Then just recorded on Push. The background sounds I hoped would sounds like timpani. I can’t remember who’s sample I used for that. Thanks for the nice words!

thank you! this one was done all in the box, so i did what i usually do for percussion when working itb, extracted separate hits using audacity, then loaded several instances of fxpansion guru - it’s old and buggy, and i really should replace it with geist but i’m just so used to it - then building different patterns in each and listening which ones sound good together. then adding variations etc, i think in the end there are 5 or 6 guru instances with different samples loaded - can’t tell now as my ableton live won’t even load the project anymore after some recent updates…

such a stunning compilation; easily one of the best that the community has ever done. from the same shared building blocks, such a dazzling variety of beauty in all forms. fantastic storytelling within each track, and in the flow of one piece to another (@Simeon, nicely done on arranging that narrative).

this really is a special project, and i am honored to have taken part in it with so many talented folks. thanks to all of you, even if you didn’t finish; your samples helped make some very pretty art.

qrates is turning out to be a fucking nightmare. So non-userfriendly. It’s all uploaded, but appears to be a press and sell project now instead of a crowdfunded project, and I can no longer edit it. I’ve emailed them, and will hope for the best. :frowning:

qrates are unable to edit an entry on their own website, and users cannot delete projects themselves, so I’m waiting for them to delete the project for me to try again… :scream:

12 X 18 is the size of my biggest rice paper so ideally it could be cut into two 12 X 9 pieces if people are into it

Hi all! Any update on the qrates issue? i want to buy my copy!! i listened the album and it sounds really good! well done everyone!

Sorry, yeah, I tried again, but the website crashed when I tried to upload anything - I’m finding it really frustrating, tbh.

I’m not in work at the moment, and the internet there is so much better than my home connection, so I’ll try again next week.

Certainly not the streamlined process the website make out.

Are there options outside of Qrates we can look into ? I would assume that EU is better than the state-side connection for this type of thing.

I mysteriously may find myself some work this month… figure that one out…

Following a third failed attempt, I give up at Qrates. Sorry guys, but I don’t really know what else to do. It’s either my laptop, or their site, but something ain’t playing ball.

Anyone got any suggestions.
