I can’t post a few bits to sell/trade. I’ve sold on here before, wondering why it’s changed?

Any insights would be appreciated, I enjoy the recirculation of creative tools :+1:t2:

we’ve changed the trade category policy in order to reduce the amount of rarely-used accounts simply posting sale items-- we don’t want this forum to just be a trading place. other platforms exist for that.

you need to become a “regular member” (see the link above) which means hitting a pretty low threshold of normal use of this forum (through logging in, reading posts, etc… the metrics are listed above).

I’ve muted the Trade thread, but some things keep popping up in my main Lines page… is there any reason this is happenning, its not too intrusive, but keeping the sale stuff hidden is one of the great features of Lines…

I think it depends on your forum settings.

I have trade muted by default but do occasionally pop in to see what’s about.

If I read a thread for a particular length of time (in trade or other category) the forum software defaults to setting me as “watching” that thread and it will show up in my main feed when updated. I have to set it to “normal” (or muted) at the bottom of the thread to reverse this.

I’m not sure if you can change the default setting that makes the forum software do this. It doesn’t bother me that much so I just do the manual setting above the odd time it does happen.

Edit: Just checked - you can change this behaviour. Go into your profile then go to settings - notifications. You can change the forum defaults regarding watching threads etc there :slight_smile:

It might be a good idea to “rest” pinning of this thread. I totally didn’t see it because for me it’s somewhere buried after a whole host of FS/FT threads. Pinning mechanism on Discourse is that once you see the thread it gets unpinned automatically for you, so since I had see the old one before the update I did not have anything telling me that an update had happened. Or maybe that is some bug, which is also possible.

Yeah, the post is in the trade category, so probably a bad place to send people who are curious how to access the trade category.

Here’s a definition of “Regular” (trust level 3) that anybody should be able to access:

he can see the rules in Trade; he has basic user level. @tehn’s post on access levels dates back to before the present requirements. only “basic member” is needed to view and reply, and “member” to create a thread.
