Hi! This is the first time in about 10+ years I’ve “promoted” or pushed any music I’ve made. I recently put together a collection of ambient, drone, soft pieces of music. Largely inspired by tide pools, gloopy fungi on rotting logs, and the wind rustling and squeaking the conifers outside my new place on Whidbey Island. Melting textured music, not too dissimilar to some inspirations – Celer, Chihei Hatakeyama, Sarah Davachi, Elaine Radigue, etc.
I don’t know. Writing about music is weird. I made this over the last couple of months. I used a Novation Summit, MegaFM, Guitars, Pedals, Field Recordings, a Yamaha Reface CP, and probably some Ableton synths. There might be some things that came out of my Eurorack system before I sold it this past summer.
The title is based on my dog’s weird habit. He seems way more into plants than the rabbits and squirrels in our yard. The boy has zero prey drive.
If you’re intrigued or curious, give it a listen! No pressure. 🤷
Haha yes it is! But just as it might be weird to write about it, it’s also very interesting to read often.
My dog (the only one I had in my life) was also very attracted to ferns and plant, but he sure had a prey drive as well (he was some corss-bread of hunting dog races). So well, one doesn’t necessarily exclude the other
Thank you for sharing this. I was crawling through Releases and found this (again) and gave it a listen. It is lovely and very much up my alley. I’m going to listen through again, but so far Weeds is my fave. Really great work.
My dog is the same! Hunts vegetation and wants to play with wild animals. This music unfolds in a way that I love – I can hear your stated inspirations in it. “The sound of fungi on rotting logs” – what could be more beautiful than that? Thank you so much for the inspiration.
