I made a playlist of stuff im listening to thats new and old and has a common theme.
This is a discovery playlist for “Spatial Music.” The term “spatial music” indicates music in which the location and movement of sound sources is a primary compositional parameter and a central feature for the listener. instrumental, Meditative, Ambient, Minimalism, Cinematic, Slow Burner, Visual.

listening to a lot of Marcus Fjellström, whose work I discovered while watching The Terror, a series about the doomed Franklin expedition in the Arctic; love his combinations of classical motifs and scoring, and “just sounds” and experimental stuff, all with a very light touch. This album is great:

oh my goodness. this is awesome in a bunch of ways. I love how simple that light interface is, and how in almost all the ways he interacts with it, a given light is influencing anything from 1 to 16 different elements at once.

Maximum artist controlled musical variation, minimum data input

Wonderfully dark sound design at the outskirts of dance…

just a quick follow up to say thanks for pointing this out! I somehow hadn’t heard her yet until this single, but Titanic Rising (and “Movies” in particular) is brilliant.

edit: I cannot get over this album, listening to it multiple times daily. the slide guitar on “Andromeda” :100:

I don’t usually listen to nightcore but somehow this song is just amazing.

I love how it’s about as far away from the song @baleen linked to as is possible, but it makes sense for this forum.

the cello/sine sides are great but I love the For Carnation vibe of the vocal stuff from this mid-90s Charles Curtis Trio 2LP. I never had two stereos hooked up to play (any) 2 sides at the same time, as intended.

So disappointed I can’t make it to see Minamo, Fabio Perletta, Yui Onodera and others at 901 Editions Night in Tokyo next month. Been drowning my sorrows and ears in this…

I’m opening for him next month! It’ll be his first time playing under the piv-it’s moniker and my first time ever seeing him perform. I’ve been a fan of his work for many years now and I owe a lot of what I’m doing to all of the beautiful records he’s made.
