Thom Yorke’s album Anima is out now, probably on my 4th or 5th listen at this point. Thom’s (and Nigel’s) best work yet in my opinion, just absolutely stunning.

I listened to it last night and was disappointed. I love his work with Radiohead but his solo stuff just doesn’t do anything for me. It feels so emotionally flat, even on Dawn Chorus where he’s so clearly trying to create something sentimental, I just have no reaction to it. With the exception of Truth Ray on TMB, that song is beautiful.
Jonny’s solo stuff gets me every damn time though.

Revisiting Cluster’s classic Zuckerzeit. Amazing how they serendipitously came up with something that still feels current 45 years later.

I seem to hear that a lot an I’m not quite sure I understand it. I loved TMB and think this took that and expanded on it in the perfect way. Def my favorite release of his, maybe tied with the Suspiria soundtrack but songs like Traffic just make me lose it. To each their own though!

my wandering in Supercollider got me listening to Jeff Carey, and now I can’t get enough of this noise stuff. I think the combination of sound design and dynamics is what is getting me. Only other artist I know of is Merzbow, anyone have some recommendations?

The little dog we’re sitting for my spouse’s cousin, who’s been pretty shy of me, jumped into my lap to get closer to my phone as I started playing that.

I love everything about this except that it’s not dropped on CD or cassette.

The Thom York/Thomas Anderson Netflix’s thing is very enjoyable. My wife (not a fan) and my 11-year old were both captivated. That’s a win for sure.

it actually reminds me of some of the more recent work you’ve put up on Bandcamp (you’re Billy Gomberg?), like ‘live sets’ and ‘Transition’ … in the sense that there’s a feeling of a large/deep space or mass, with (seemingly) more acoustic, percussive vibrations, and ‘organic’-feeling, electronic movement/events. That stuff is well-engaging… simultaneously dense and spacious-sounding, with a lot of subtle detail. It’s nicely done.

Caution: The video has a lot of fast-changing (if not actual flashing) lights so, y’know, mind your eyes
