late to reply here:
yep you got it. i take the comparison as a very insightful compliment, thank you!
true story - pretty sure it was when i was listening back on Transition prior to declaring the mix “final final final” and i had the Haptic piece playing on iTunes and I was really blown away by how layered and detailed my work was to the point where I started to wonder which field recordings I had used in the initial sessions when I stopped the session playback and the Haptic piece continued to play.
I’ve been lucky to share gigs with everyone on that recording.

I just discovered Pocket Knife Army through this video which they posted to Reddit. Love their combination of fun synth programming, groovy bass, and stellar vocals.

Lubomyr Melnyk
I saw him live two days ago in a small venue.
He is the creator of (and solely representing?) Continuous Music
He was introducing each parts, talking about his method and inspirations. To illustrate how complicated his method was, he compared music and martial art, saying that top notch classical players - who could handle Chopin - would be like mastering karate, but he was more like a devine kung fu master, with a bit of tai-chi in it.
And therefor he was a bit worried that no one could play his music once he’ll be gone.
What a character.
This was my favorite part of the set (Butterfly):

Renku Corporation just dropped a new album so I have that on repeat. This guy has a massive modular synthesizer and all tracks are recorded live.

Really enjoyed this brand new Chris Watson - and can’t imagine how intense field recordings would be on the main stage PA at a festival like Glastonbury!
Last night I was listening to this which is also all field recordings assembled into “pieces” (Compositions? I dunno what sounds the least wanky…). Excellent stuff. I got to Jez riley French from the field recordings thread on here; the release of the new Chris Watson was just serendipity.

EDIT: It’s Belluard, i can see from the URL now.
Is that somewhere in Switzerland? I can’t remember the name, but if it is, the then I did visuals there once, and remember walking through the gates, into that venue and not believing my eyes.

I’ve really been enjoying the latest Hotel Neon release. It’s an interesting balance between massive, rolling depth and positive, warm waves. I just keep coming back to it and find something new each time around.
