Completely head over heels for Zimoun.

Also, his art projects…

AND this REALLY lovely performance by Haro & Arp, live-streamed by Mengi yesterday!

I was scanning the Boomkat end of the year charts and discovered that I somehow missed a new Atom™ release earlier this year. Really loving this one. The whole album is [synthesized] vocal-driven with that cheeky Atom sense of humor all over. This track “Tech Talk” is particularly full of synth jargon and puns:

Posting an old treasure from the Norwegian experimental scene from 20 years back (remember listening to these recordings in high school);

Trollofon

The Trollofon was started by Nicholas H. Møllerhaug and Espen Sommer Eide in 2001, with the goal of conveying experimental music in a new way – through the active use of one of the veteran trolleybuses in Bergen as a concert venue and an internet radio (pilota.fm) on BEK’s server as a communication channel.

The trolleybuses run on electricity, as is well known, and the musicians connected the music system and electronic instruments directly to the trolley’s powerline. Along the way, with concerts that also required power, there were interactions between the music and the speed of the trolley bus and the ability to accelerate climbs.

Highly recommended!

This reminded me to listen again to Jim’s epic extended dronified cover of Fast Car by Tracy Chapman. Remarkable and unexpected stuff!

I was going to say it reminded me of this song and then realised it says something about it in the song title… Absolutely love the original

Ok, I do recognize Jim O’Rourke but I have no clue who the guy on the left is :slight_smile:

I am continually astonished by Jim tbh: so much great work across such a wide range of time and styles and contexts. It’s just implausible for one guy! (or maybe just lines up perfectly with my tastes). And in every interview I’ve read or heard he comes across as a gem too.

also Digitonal’s Winter Mixes which are fantastic

Not sure if this Kiko Dinucci album got shared, but I don’t think I spent enough time with it this year:

Some of it kinda reminds of me old stuff by The Black Dog and it’s really good

been loving this album lately, their earlier stuff is great too! uncanny weekend is probably my favorite track on here.

edit: was scrolling through their catalog, credits, etc and saw the name alex thibodeau which i thought i had seen before; plugged the name into google and didnt get much. randomly plugged the name into lines search and it turns out lines user @alext works with this band! great work alex, keep it up! if you have solo material, i’d love to hear it.
