Le Orme’s “Uomo di Pezza,” and the alt version of Larks’ Tongues in Aspic (lesser, but still great).

definitely top five for me as well, that’s what I’ll be listening to for the next however long it is.

edit: was also pleased to discover New Blood, new to me, some incredible versions of songs I’ve loved for a long time. that artistic turn doesn’t always turn out so well.

Mark Linkous: 'I have a lot of cheap, little keyboards and this octagon [sic – optigan] thing and this synth module that has a zillion different sounds in it. A lot of the keyboards I got at thrift stores. I have a little Casio SK-1 that has a built in sampler. My favorite microphone I found at the landfill. It was on a CB base station. I’ve got these wireless intercoms from the ‘50s from an auction from a dentist’s office.’

I remember the days of incomplete lo-fi OST edited from the dialogueless dubbing master videos, but in recent years they’ve actually tracked down the lost master tapes so here’s every scrap of music from the whole thing in super high quality

pirated it for now as I have already spent way more than my share over the years on fancy Ulysses 31 OST CDs and box sets

I’m listening to ‘Over the Ocean’ by Low, thinking of Mimi, their drummer and singer, and one of the most emotionally authentic performers I’ve ever seen. A beautiful soul, all the way through. I just found out she died at age 55. RIP and you will be missed. Low is the first band I ever saw that I had to lean in to really hear. They did it more slowly and more quietly so that it could be more intimate. I feel like she has been a big part of my life for 30 years. Too young to loose her gentle soul. Times like this I try to remember that we’re all—all of us all the time—just walking each other home.

I only have Apple Music, but here’s a playlist of my favorites: ‎Low. Tears for Mimi. by robb monn on Apple Music

Oh, shit, man. LOVED her vocals. So much so I kind of wished she’d released a solo album at some point. “Laser Beam” kills me every time. Sad news.
