I have been into early electronic music for a few years. For some reason I never heard any Laurie Spiegel until last weekend. Now I am binging on it and loving it.
Yeah, love that record.
Fantastic. I always love hearing players - especially, as a pianists, other pianists - talking about style and technique.
(I love discovering how technique affects sound and style - for instance, George Shearing - a way to try to mimic the style Petersen illustrates - it is to almost lock your thumbs around one another - Shearing was blind, remember - and then you just anchor them in the middle and you maneouvre around the keyboard and all of a sudden you understand where that sound comes from).
How did I miss this?
