Yes - that’s right. But I belong to the children of the revolution - spent most of my life in Basle.

Thanks again to all - appreciate this very much.

I just noticed, that this thread has been moved to “meta” - which I cannot even find as a category. But it certainly is exactly this: meta.

Cheers

Found this thread by looking for something like an introduce yourself thread. I got here through a recommendation by @shellfritsch in the “kaitlyn aurelia smith - the mosaic of transformation live” livestream chat.

Seems like I didn’t find the right topic, but after reading this thread and browsing the rest of the forum, I’m certain I found the right place indeed.

Welcome! Figure this would be a decent place to also just put out there that this is my favorite place on the whole internet. No community around any of my interests remains nearly as friendly, helpful, and slow to encourage consumption as this one. Every trade deal I have had here has been fantastic, all of the help I have gotten has been fantastic, and all of the art shared on here is also fantastic! You are all amazing and I appreciate everyone who has put in so much effort to make this such a good and welcoming community.

This year I also got into web development professionally and have slowly begun moving into software engineering proper and I love having a community that really embraces that crossover more than anywhere else that I am aware of.

All that said, I hope you find all of the same warmth I have found here!

makes me really happy to read this. it’s really hard to find places like this on the internet nowadays. i read through the rules of conduct and the idea to treat this place like a “public park” really resonates with me.

instantly reminded me of this article: To Mend a Broken Internet, Create Online Parks

And regarding:

No community around any of my interests remains nearly as friendly, helpful, and slow to encourage consumption as this one.

YES. I’m tired of people telling me to get into hardware modular. I get that the physical interaction is amazing, but I’m really happy with VCV, particularly cost-wise. I live in Southern America, Chile, and while you can find some things here, shipping is a very costly affair. Wages are low as well. Not everyone can afford to get into hardware. Working in the box might miss some (important) aspects of physical hardware, but in the end it opens up great possibilities of creative expression.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. Glad to be here!

there used to be a painting in the hallway of work, a simple childish painting of a field and sky.
in the middle was handwritten “you are here. literally.”
