Probably not the right place but can you guys tell me what Vpp is for the clock out? I have a po-12 but apparently it only likes 6vPP max for the clock in. Donā€™t want to hurt it.

clock out is 0-10v.

iā€™d hack in a voltage divider with two resistors on the input jack of the po-12.

Hi, still no 256 version coming up ?
i just bought a teletype, looking forward using my 256 with WW+Teletype.

regretfully itā€™s very low on the priority list. most modular users have adopted using the 128, which we specifically designed these modules for.

are you hoping to use the 256 for both the computer and modular at the same time?

Conjunction of several factors :

  • i mainly use my 256 with a computer running an app using the full grid.
  • my 128 is non varibright and made with irrelevant custom colors.
  • itā€™s annoying to carry a 256 when using just the modular.
  • i donā€™t want to buy a fourth grid.

A solution to use the 256 with both the computer and the modular could be nice in some contexts, what do you have in mind ?

i didnā€™t have a solution specifically. i use my 128 with a Switch, toggled between the computer and the modular, so i can context switch from mlr to the euro modules (hot patched).

literally the only 256 solution that makes sense in the modular is a big vertical view of series mode in WW. everything else sortof ā€œbreaksā€ the design flow and would require a very substantial firmware rewrite-- given there arenā€™t very many 256 modular users (the power draw being yet another issue) and my attempt to spend time both on new projects and refining current ones-- i donā€™t forsee myself being able to rationalize a big design project for the old modules.

i do know some people that might be up for a commission, if there are several people that would want to get together and fund that.

i apologize for this reality.

From the very beginning, one of the features of White Whale I was having the hardest time wrapping my head around was the scale maps. I tried making some extra printed documents to help me figure out and remember what was what.

This sheet I made just to visually recall what scale was connected with which button on the grid. It certainly does not explain the whole process of selecting and adjusting scales, but it was something that I found somewhat useful, and so wanted to share it with you as well.

Hi everyone,

Iā€™m new here but Iā€™ve used monome and arc for several years and I love itā€¦ Thank you for this amazing work (hardware, software).

Iā€™m using White Whale and I would like to make some suggestions for a next firmware updateā€¦

  • Possibility to switch between trigger and gate for each row and not only for the 4 rows together. For example, we could select ā€œgateā€ for the first row and ā€œtriggerā€ for rows 2, 3 and 4.
  • Possibility to add a chance probability for each row. For example, we could add chance probability only for the first row.

I use this technic in my own Max patch and, in my music, it is very useful. For example, with the second suggestion, I can write a specific pattern but I can add some variations in only 1 or 2 rows. I have a better mix between random and writingā€¦

What do you think about it ?

I agree that both would be meaningful and musically useful additions to WW.
Especially the gate/trigger switching for individual rows.

oddly running into issues with upgrading. Same setup that worked before. dfu installed. getting this

looks like you might need to reinstall dfu-programmer, itā€™s not found?

I tried to reinstall. It warned it was already installed. But Iā€™ll try again. Weird thing is I already used this setup to install the first update. Strangeness is afoot!

wonder if you need to get into root? try adding ā€œsudoā€ to the front of the commands.

Hmmā€¦I couldnā€™t get it to work, so I ended up installing on my old processing laptop and got it running fine. Strange though, as it worked fine originally. But such is the way of the black art of tech.
