i posted a number of items in the trade catagory on friday because my car died and i need to raise money for a new car. within a few hours the thread was locked and unlisted. i inquired with a moderator when i noticed yesterday and have received no response.

is this forum run by the same people who run muffwiggler? i ask because this is a complete lack of respect for women in the modular community and it is the same crap that muffwiggler people pull whenever a woman is anywhere around that place.

id like to get a response. it would be nice. thx.

I’m not a moderator, but I can say this with certainty:

If you were a regular, contributing member of this forum, you would realize that this forum and the community it fosters is nothing like that on MW. People here are diverse, open-minded, supportive, and kind, and any instance of sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. is called out right away.

yeah, you’ll find none of the MW vibes here.

did you make sure that your listing and member level met the criteria here:

I wasn’t the one who took the post down, but you might want to read these parts of the above posted trade rules:

don’t create a lines account just to sell items. we don’t encourage linkdumping, in which sellers join several different forums/social media only to crosspost the same list in throwaway threads once they’ve gained access to the buy/sell area. it’s spam, and such posts from first-time members will be deleted. lines’ primary focus is not commerce.

and

don’t post overt or private offers to subvert payment mechanisms. we absolutely do not condone breaking terms of service–lying to sneak transactions through without fees. so, do not request “paypal F&F” or similar in threads or PMs. third-party payment processors are well within their rights to suddenly terminate accounts if their users violate their agreed-upon terms, and no one wants that to happen in the middle of a transaction. if you use a 3rd party payment processing service, and it’s valuable to you, include their tiny transaction fee in your item price. this way both buyer and seller have some confidence that their transaction is protected and covered.

Your post was conflicting with both these rules.

Also, if you have a problem with it, please send a message to the moderators instead of posting a public complaint, which will not get you anywhere.
This said, you will get contacted soon to sort out the issue.

um i sent u a msg over 24 hours ago and posting a public complaint finally got me a response so the wont get me anywhere line is no true at all. i think that is a really rude thing to say to someone publicly when u were apologetic in ur private msg about being really busy. u are deliberately trying to make me look bad by saying that on this thread when my original post clearly says i contacted u. i posted my question publicly because i didnt get a response.

i didnt link dump anything nor join lines ‘just to sell items’. i havent tried to sell anything on here since i joined and i have been on here for like 7 months now for the record.

How is a post being removed for clearly breaking several rules being “disrespectful to women”?

this forum is the polar opposite of the general ickiness of MW, so rest assured it has absolutely nothing to do with your gender, and the notion that your post would be deleted for that reason alone is both absurd and rude to the moderators here who are all very nice people. it probably got closed because, in addition to breaking some of the rules stated above, it seems like you made the bare minimum of posts to get into the trade category, your most recent of which were highly aggressive and accusatory with seemingly no evidence, but I don’t know the story there.

in general if you don’t want bad vibes, don’t bring bad vibes yourself.

Hi all,
Just letting you know I’ve responded to @missmodular directly, and we (the mods) are actively dealing with the situation.

was @missmodular not told why her thread was unlisted/locked when this was actioned by a moderator?
if not, I think the moderators need to accept, this kind of action needs an explanation (at the time) to the poster. communication is important.
given this appeared to have been deemed a breach of ‘rules’, it would be simple to have explained this, with reference to the rules.

(and frankly, no more effort than clearing unhappiness later  )

While I could understand the frustration of seeing your post taken down, I truly wonder how does this episode have anything to do with disrespecting women? I found that a very offensive assumption. If you have been hanging around this forum for 7 months you should know better. This place is one of the most inclusive communities I have been part of.

Hi all,
I understand some of the posts above seem to be hitting a nerve, but I’d encourage members not to derail this conversation.

@TheTechnobear
Agreed, and I can assure you the moderators have been talking about these issues these last few weeks. We’re working on it.

edit: Closing this thread until we hear from @missmodular. We will consider reopening if it makes sense for all parties after discussion.
