Here’s a bit of fun…

Downloading that serialosc.zip causes Windows Defender to freak out.

It immediately puts the file into quarantine, causing the download to fail.

I’m wondering if Windows 10’s security features are interfering with serialosc in general.

very likely. try shutting down your firewalls etc. (disable your wifi first?)

there have been issues with port blocking with previous versions of windows. there’s a chance that serialosc isn’t able to communicate with max, etc. but this would explain full-time failure, not part-time.

Clicking “none” works sometimes. After a system reboot everything works perfectly. Also it seems serialosc works better in max than in ableton.

I honestly don’t yet see a pattern here. Dis-functionalities and fixes usually happen in a few different ways.

If when I open a patch and it doesn’t initially see the grid, I then create a new serialosc object, which often does see the grid, and replace the old serialosc box with the new one. If that doesn’t work after a few tries, I either reload the patch or max itself. If I have several patches open where each uses a monome device, typically only some of them see the monomes.

On a more rare occasion the serial osc server crashes, which I then either have to restart manually (no hot plugging) or reboot the system.

I’m looking at the activity in TCPView, will report what I find.
