Ah, yeah I see what you’re asking. Might be worth waiting until Ansible is ported to VCV Rack, a project which is underway currently (iirc).

This works!

Earthsea is a little buggy still, it has the least work put into it of the three modules so far. It was a “let me make the panel and see if this works out of the box” effort, and surprisingly, it almost did! Any reproducible problem reports you can file on GitHub will be helpful. https://github.com/dewb/monome-rack/issues

I just want to mention how thankful I am that you posted this!

I had no idea the first output on the Fixed Voltage Source was now polyphonic. Come to think of it, I don’t even think it had gate inputs for each of the constants the last time I tried it. I’ve been using this new version quite a bit lately, both with MP and elsewhere.

Thank you @spacelordmother!

@Dewb When it almost does it’s great! I tried to see if there was something reproducible that caused the issue, but never saw anything consistent. It just happens “after a while.”

@unicity All an accident, my friend. :joy:

Hiya, sorry if this question is a bit obtuse, but is the virtual grid only meant to reflect what’s on an actual grid, or is it for playing the modules without a grid?

I’m just now taking advantage of the mac binaries and am traveling through the weekend and won’t have my grid until Monday.

If the virtual grid IS able to control the modules without a real grid, can someone throw me a bone :grimacing:

It’s meant to be a virtual grid you can use with the modules without a physical grid. Works great!

And if you have a physical grid, that also works with the trilogy.

THat’s what I thought, but I’m not certain how to connect a virtual grid to a module. I thought at first it was a thread issue from this line:

The virtual grid modules can only be used if your thread count is set to 1. Communication between modules and virtual grids is not yet thread-safe. (#42)

…but i have to drop all the stats and framework (including the threadcount) as low as possible so I avoid clipping. An attempt to crank the framerate didn’t do anything for me.

UPDATE /// User Error

Was trying so hard to connect the grid to the module, I missed the connection option from the module to the grid at the bottom of the right click option menu. Leaving this here in case anyone else suffers from sleep deprived critical thinking issues.

Hey, I was just trying to install this, using the SDK instructions in your repo. It looks like there’s a new dev SDK available (95ddb89). I’m getting stuck when downloading this or the 1.0.0 SDK. It’s returning for both the dev SDK and the 1.0.0 SDK.

$ 1;2c1;2c1;2c1;2c1;2c1;2cc1;2c1;2c;2

And then it’s not possible to unzip the file and move on.

Any help with this would be really appreciated.

Edit: Found the pre compiled binaries, and dropped these into the plugin folder, and looks like we’re up and running! Thanks!

Hey!

I’ve been using this on windows and it is amazing. Great work! I was wondering if there is a mac pre-build that can be downloaded ? Couldn’t find one on the github and I was able to build myself as I don’t really know what I’m doing with that!

Thanks

Was the Mac pre-build release removed from the Github page? How strange. I’ve got the ZIP and would be happy to pass it on. I wonder why it was removed though, and whether the developer doesn’t want the file to be spread around anymore. Going to see if there’s a response before posting a link.

This melted my brain ages ago.

There are now precompiled packages on the release page. Unzip these and you’re good to go.

You don’t need to build locally anymore.

I thought this too, but I don’t see the “pre-mac.zip” asset anymore.

macOS builds are still manually uploaded for the time being. is what the release page says

I managed to compile eventually as yes the Mac build wasn’t showing up there. Thanks guys

Mac builds were temporarily disabled because I hadn’t finished updating the Mac build steps to the latest Github Actions syntax. They’re back now, sorry for the extra hurdles!

Just updated my rack install after a loooong time and know I did something like this before but it doesn’t seem to work now?

Hmmm… I haven’t had any issues with them for a while, honestly… I have’t really touched them in a long time but they still work well…

Can you tell me what files you dropped where?
