I have MP/WW/ES hooked up to TT and haven’t had any issues so far. I haven’t been doing anything crazy, but using TT to send ES the reset command to clock it. That’s been working just fine.

hmmm…
and you have updated the firmware on the trilogy to the versions at the top of this thread?

The only one I haven’t updated is MP. I was under the impression that without that latest firmware it would not be possible for them to speak to each other.

Question for all Teletype and trilogy users:

Did anyone experience any freezes on Teletype or any of the trilogy modules when using them together?

ANY freezes/crashes on Teletype?

I have Teletype connected to MP and WW, can control both, and have seen no freezes on any of the modules.

Thank you @bens!
This is good to know, as it narrows things down a bit more for me.
I have been experiencing repeated freezes/crashes with trilogy connection. But after connecting/disconnecting specific modules, I am beginning to think that the actual problem is specifically between Earthsea and Teletype.
When I have just WW and MP connected to TT it all seems to work fine.

we’ve had another report on Earthsea. tomorrow i’ve scheduled time to check it out. a firmware update should fix the issue-- i have a good idea what might be up.

apologies for the delay on this-- i tend to overestimate my “free time” after shipping a new thing!

I don’t have a TT, but got an Earthsea last week, and it does seem to freeze up occasionally. I initially thought it might be power issues in my case, though I am running a Switch, but now I’m not sure.

More wiggling time needed though. I’ll see if I can see a rhyme or reason to what it’s doing.

thank you!
very much looking forward to this!!!

Running earthsea with switch and I’ve been having the same freezing issues/intermittent unresponsiveness as well. tehn has been unbelievably responsive to my concerns/emails. I just chimed in to let you know that you’re not alone on this issue. Hopefully a forthcoming update will do the trick. To the untrained eye (myself), it certainly does seem like a power issue of sorts.

Thanks for chiming in @greenanother!
Do you also use Teletype? Have you experienced freezes/crashes on TT in cnjunction with Earthsea?

Good to know I’m not alone @greenanother.

While I’m here … dare I ask if any new panels are going to be made with the screw holes in the right place? I’d prefer to buy 3 new panels for my Trinity rather than get to them with a file. I think this was mentioned in the old forum somewhere but couldn’t find it.

Another earthsea with intermittent freezing issues. Also using switch… and have the trilogy tethered to tt. I haven’t yet been able to consistently reproduce the issue… But it’s there.

Hi, LC. No, I only have earthsea and switch at the moment (but I do plan on adding a Teletype at some point). Really enjoying your Teletype/Elements vids on muffs btw!

Thank you @greenanother!
And good to know that the crashes are not just happening in my system @mrdave1981. And @ether as well.
I mean: it’s not good that you also have the problem, but, … eeh: you know what I mean.

Still trying to figure out steps that are reproducible… will make it easier for @tehn to roll out a fix. Keep testing everyone!

Here is something reproduceable:

While playing the grid in arp mode (single presses)with double shape memories already recorded (no looping and originally recorded speed), I press a button anywhere in the playhead (buttons on top row) and the grid freezes. Nothing will unfreeze the grid other than power-cycling the case.

I tried as well, but the only consistent thing was that my teletype would freeze. It would happen at different times in different circumstances. ES would freeze also.

I even had two instances where teletype would not start up after cycling power, which was pretty scary. Bunch of turning on and off eventually brought it back to life.
Ultimately just unplugging the || cable from ES was the only way to avoid crashes.

I’ve also recently noticed that if I leave the case and grid on (and walk away for a bit), I sometimes come back to a frozen grid. Normally, I would power off the case and wait a bit before powering back on, but the last time It froze I hit a few buttons, walked away for a few min., came back, and the grid was functioning again. It was as if the grid/earthsea was stuck in some long, drawn out, slow-down animation that needed to run it’s course before resolving itself and returning to normal operation.

Yes. ES does this weird slow-down, where it eventually just stops completely, for a period of time, and eventually comes back alive. I definitely saw that happen on mine as well.
