I know what you mean! I just cleaned up an old iPhone 4s. I want try it out for recording the modular. I had the idea I could take the lunch box out on battery power and record with the 4s.

was trying to find this! thanks for posting

My 4s is one of my favourite things - I use it for everything from a sleep aid (tinnitus relief via ambient) to a field recorder (with Fostex AR-4i) to a sound/sample source for my other iOS devices! Absolutely love it!

This thread inspired my to record a bunch of improvisation on my phone last night. https://soundcloud.com/ethanhein/kronecker-improv

im leaning more towards getting a mutant brain to hold me off until i get a Poly 2, but yeah i definitely want to use my ipad more. So far ive only used it as an end of chain DSP.

Koala seems really cool, just got it, and it´s fun
(Why do I think it´s funny that to me it feels like I got dj64 maxpatch fx in my phone)

Not sure it’s been mentioned here but this new app looks like it could be useful to some here.

I might even dip my toes into a bit of ‘coding’ as it looks like it’s well supported and ideal for beginners.

Exactly my thoughts!

If I want to get sounds in and out of the Ipad are there any interfaces besides the iConnectAudio4+ that people would recommend?

I’ve been feeling a little guilty recently as my euroracks have been sitting neglected (partially due to moving my studio around and it being messy), but the Ipad is just such an immediate and fun way to make music. I’ve been using AUM (so great) and especially Enso. The only other thing I’ve been using which I don’t think has been mentioned is dot Melody, which goes great with Enso.

I have a Zoom U24 which I am really pleased with. It totally depends what your needs are, though - any class compliant interface should work fine

here’s a plug for iVCS3 by apeSoft https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ivcs3/id665703927?mt=8
can use just the effects as channel inserts in aum
like spring reverb, sounds great :slightly_smiling_face:

Recommendations for an audio unit sampler? Does Reslice only let you work with one file at a time? I’d love something I could load drum or other short samples into.

Coincident - I just bought iVCS3 the other day. Getting to know the beast! Like this idea though. Cheers

Try Chameleon. It’s really good!

ReSlice only lets you work with one file at a time. However, you can load and run multiple instances of ReSlice in AUM with different files.

Yes! I LOVE iVCS3 but totally haven’t considered using it as an effects plugin! What seems impossible is apparently true: it’s even better than I already thought it was!

I recently decided to pick up AUM to integrate my iPad with my 104hp euro skiff. Unfortunately I’m running into some connection problems between my Arturia Keystep, iConnectivity Audio 2+, and my rack (Midi2CV is the gateway). What’s the best way to set up/connect the interface and Keystep so I can control control everything and use midi channels on the keyboard to swap from soft synth to modular? Should I use a powered usb hub or has anyone had better luck going Keystep midi out > iConnectivity midi in > (iPad) > iConnectivity midi out?

Oooh, someone at work is selling their 1st gen iPad Pro (the 12.9" model) for a very reasonable price, would this have enough CPU to run the stuff in this thread? I’m currently running on the iPhone:

  • AUM
  • Xynthesizr
  • Noatikl 3
  • Blamsoft’s AU effects
  • K7D
  • DLYM
  • Loopfield
  • Autony
  • DRC
  • AudioShare

I guess I would be adding at least Ripplemaker, Enso, and a couple of others mentioned in the thread.

Cheers!

I’m wondering now if I could use the Zoom U-24 to connect a nakedboards MC24 to my ipad. Probably? Seemingly?

I don’t see why not. Looks like you’d need a 3.5mm to 5 pin midi adapter between the MC24 and U24.
