Check out Samplr too it’s a great app but desperately needs an update

i broke out samplr last night for the first time in awhile, and its still one of my favorite iOS apps. Very “musical and playable” and very immediate. I agree that it could probably use an update or two. It doesnt seem like it has seemless audioshare integration, which would be handy.

Absolute classic. Imo it, Borderlands and Animoog will go down as the apps that made people take the iPad seriously.

Could do with an update though, definitely. Maybe Apples drop of IAA will force an update? Won’t cross my fingers though.

borderlands is just brilliant, and i keep saying that im going to incorporate it into my workflow. I just have not been able to include the ipad yet.

thats more because im still immersed in learning my newer modules and other devices, but yeah… knowing borderlands is there is all kinds of exciting.

Do you (general you or you all or ya’ll) know if there’s a way to import multiple samples at once into Sector? I could not figure it the heck out last night.

Unrelated to that, I’ve greatly enjoyed messing around with Patterning 2 and Koala. You can just shout into Koala, edit the shouts into drums, make a beat, go nuts, donuts. Excellent.

Patterning 2’s rotate function is a bee’s knee. Interesting, evolving beats… I can’t wait to dump some less drum-like samples into it… (currently just have loaded a lo-fi hip-hop MSXII kit).

Really enjoying Mozaic.

I have an ancient ipad 2, that i’ve refused to update past 9.x or whatever it harasses me with daily. It still beautifully runs my favorites:

Animoog
Samplr
Thor
Nave
Borderlands
Photophore

I use it with my iconnect audio4+ interface. Not much as a controller, though maybe I should revisit/redownload some apps before they become completely incompatible :joy:

FAC Mobile Bundle by Frederic Corvest

I’ve seen people mention this before, but what are folk’s current methods for getting midi and audio in/out of their iPads? I have a iPad Pro 2nd generation.

Mostly I’ve wanted to bring the iPad in to a semi-portable setup that would incorporate a norns and an OPZ.

Thoughts?

The OP-Z can transmit both audio and MIDI to/from iPad over USB, and just MIDI over bluetooth. For audio directly out of iPad to a mixer or sound system, you’re looking at either something like an iRig or a class-compliant, driverless audio interface and a USB-C hub.

Yeah, what I wanted to figure out was some way in which I could send midi and audio between all three devices. Such as midi out of the Norns to both the OPZ and iPad (choosing which channels go where) and the putting the audio back in towards the Norns. The desire is for the OPZ and the iPad to be synths/drum machines and the Norns to be one of many sequences to send to both, such as Kria out to both devices or something. But as long as I can get midi out to the Norns (with my 2host) the OPZ can communicate to the iPad wirelessly and natively through the Norns usb.

Maybe something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VM51WSH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hyYBDbZP65TKB

Then for midi - opz into norns and ipad
to 2host to norns. Then maybe some alsa midi config to get midi thru between opz and ipad

This one looks good to me. 3 USB ports, headphones and it can act as a stand.

This looks wonderful, but sadly I’ve got a 2nd generation iPad, not the third, most recent. This ends up limiting my usb capabilities. I’ll look around. The general camera lightning attachment seems like a good enough fix, but will certainly be a limiting factor.

oh, how i wish so much that this had 1/8" stereo line input to match the headphone output

Can anyone recommend an iOS touchpad controller for sending midi to my ES-8 to then send CV to eurorack? looking for an easel/sensei type experience.

The landscape is a bit confusing to my aging brain…

Do you mean external hardware, or an app that behaves as an XY pad?

I believe TouchOSC can do this. The app I wrote, Aftertouch could also do this, but it might be a bit cumbersome, since that’s not it’s primary intention (though it is currently up for free since I can no longer maintain it).

I did come back to this thread for another reason though: VCV Rack modules now run on iOS:

I’ll look closer at TouchOSC and Aftertouch. Thanks.

And amazing about MiRack.

I’ve been playing with mirack and it is astoundingly good. This kind of application is perfect for a touchscreen, and it’s really ridiculous how well it runs on the ipad. It can handle very very complex racks without any kind of stuttering in sound or the UI. Impressive.

Does it handle audio input for sound mangling?
