You likely already know this, but in case you don’t, in AUM, you can send your tracks to a Mix bus and then send that Mix bus to a “master” track. When you record that master track, you end up with a stereo mix, which shows up in Audio Share. AUM is such a great tool.

Thanks. Can that be done after you’ve recorded the individual tracks, or only during the initial recording process?

Depending on what you’re after exactly, either. There are often times where I will record tracks and then play them back using a file player and add other tracks that way.

Yes, my recent contribution to the Disquiet Junto project was all made on the iPad. As my audio interface went belly up I ended up using the iPad microphone to record all the live trumpet. The editing was done using AudioShare and I used Hokusai 2 for time stretching. Percussion loop was done in Patterning 2 (which is the first time I’ve had to really dig into it and it is superb!). Everything was put together in Cubasis. I used the K7D tape delay on the drones and the live trumpet track.

Oh, cool. I hadn’t thought of that way to manage it. Thanks!

It’s beautiful! I feel that it’s the most straight-forward of the tape delay plugins I have, yet it’s also possibly the most musical, which is no mean feat!

Ah, I love that you did this and - when I finally wade into the waters of the Junto - I’m intending to work entirely within iOS too. Sounds superb - really interesting use of Autony, which I definitely need to spend a lot of time with.

Have you tried Ripplemaker on an iPhone? It looks like it would scratch my Rack itch, but I’m wary it won’t be usable on the small screen.

I have and it works fine, though I do have a iPhone 8 Plus.

Just wanted to Chime in and say that Korg Gadget and Audulus are easily my two favorite iOS apps for music.

Audulus gives me my patch programing fix, and allows me to connect the iPad to an ES-8 and turn it into a eurorack module.

Korg Gadget is a great sequencer and host of synth engines. It’s a little annoying that you have to buy the extra instruments with in-app purchases, but the quality is suitably high and it really is a great sketchpad.

I do wish I could get a grip on Audulus because it looks so powerful but it just addles my brain. I think at some point I’ll just have to accept I’m a muso not a coder!

There’s a lot to like on its Patchstorage site:

Not audio but the results will end up used alongside my noise somehow; been having fun with eBoy’s intentionally limited very nicely designed pixel art app ‘The Grix’

This is why, despite being fascinated by it, I haven’t gone down that road!

I’m not sure I totally get what you and @brasslens mean by “coder” in this context.

To me, Audulus site between hardware modular and Max/MSP (or Reaktor) in terms of how it works… it’s very much like patching any modular synth but there are more modules and some ready to go high level building blocks.

It doesn’t look like hardware, but it works the same way.

Yes, apologies, probably not the correct terminology. I have the app and have tried but, for me, there are easier synths on iOS to use ready made rather than starting from scratch. Hope I’m not doing a disservice to Audulus and perhaps when I have more time I’ll dive in further.

Thanks for the link - does look interesting.

Just a quick heads-up - Koala (which has rapidly become my go-to all-in-one sampler app) is imminently getting an upgrade which brings with it loads of new performance effects… and they’re superb!

Oh, cool. I love Koala. It has both decreased and increased my desire to purchase an SP-404sx.

Are there details about the upgrades online?

New effects getting close to release! Going to #superbooth19? See you in the crowd! I’ll probably be bouncing a bouncy ball. Koala Sampler, the ultimate pocket sampler https://t.co/oqUZ1YqE8y #koalasampler pic.twitter.com/M7hihDZ2Ik

Although it’s hard to properly see. I’m helping with a little Beta testing though so I can clarify a bit. My effects screen now has:

  • cutter
  • reverse
  • dub
  • tempo delay
  • vowel
  • dirty
  • vinyl
  • crush
  • pitch
  • comb
  • ring
  • reverb
  • stutter
  • gate
  • filter

With a space left over for one more, although I’m not sure what that’s going to be now. I’ve really taken to resampling things through the performance effects and sending them back into the pads to chop/sequencing them. It’s incredible powerful & great to hear that you’re into it.
