I’m curious, what are everyone’s go-to apps for lofi stuff? Is there anything similar to tape simulation or something like the lofi junky?

The Klevgrand DAW Cassette plugin is one of my favourites. Also Fly Tape does some nice things.

The Klevgrand ‘reamp’ is nice for adding a bit of grit as well

I’ve just discovered that Mono/Poly isn’t AUv3 compatible and am both stunned and massively disappointed. Is there a way I can use it through AUM? Does running it through Gadget LE work? I love the sound of it but AUv3 is so central to how I work that I’m considering getting a refund. I feel like an idiot for not checking compatibility but it never occurred to me for a second that it wouldn’t have AUv3 functionality

I’ve enjoyed using Master Record as a simple tape deck simulator for a few years. You can add hiss and some warble, as well as some basic eq and compression functions.

K7D is a good tape simulation / delay, warbler, etc. There are also some free apps like Frobulator, Nebulizer, and Muckraker that make things sound a bit wrecked.

¿maybe IAA (inter app audio)

Some of the Korg standalone synth apps respond to midi, between apps. Some only to bluetooth midi from a external device. In the full version of Gadget you can use your mono-poly app with midi. Likely the Korg synths don’t support auv3 because they are competing with Cubasis and others with their Gadget daw.

My iPolysix app for example does not work with ‘inter-app midi’ but the Korg iOddysey does. Which would still mean you’d have to send midi from another app to get it to run inline with other parts.

The full version of Gadget and all the synths in it do work well with AUM.

Is AUM enough or Audiobus is needed as well? Can you route mic in to Borderlands, Samplr via AUM? Thanks!

Thanks for the lofi suggestions! I have the Klevgrad DAW Cassette Plugin and do enjoy it…but I feel like it’s missing some the idiosyncrasies of real tape. I suppose that’s the point! Looking forward to checking some of these other apps out.

Probably not the correct thread but…
I recently got a new iPad Pro after not having an iPad since v1. What would one recommend for an audio and midi interface these days? Ideally I would like 2 line ins and outs, and at least one midi in and out, iPad charging and headphone output. Anyone using the iRig Pro Duo? The size of that one is appealing.

I use the Zoom U-24 with a camera connection kit that has both USB and lightning (which allows me to charge the ipad whilst using it) but mine is the 10.5" iPad so if yours does not have a lightning port that solution wouldn’t work for you, alas.

For what it’s worth the Zoom U-24 has 2 audio in/out and midi in/out as well as main our and headphones - and I absolutely love it

I’ve been using Apogee Duet for years now to record with Auria. It also charges the iPad while in use and has one usb midi port.

The best I’ve found are K7D and DLYM.

I love mine, the converters are very nice and it also works with my Mac…

As ever hope a little self promotion is ok:

I’ve got a new app out

A polyrhythmic arpeggiator

Grabbed it. It isn’t showing up via search in the app store yet, so I looked up Cality and found it through a link therein. Excited to take too long of a lunch break today and try it out!

A few people seemed unsure if it could do it or how it was done so I made a video about using Koala with interapp audio - using AUM to record the output of other apps directly into Koala & using effects plugins with Koala sounds.

Hope it comes in handy for somebody

Nice one Pete, I’ve reinstalled koala after seeing your videos as I can see it been a useful app especially used in AUM. Cheers, Tony
