Clicks/pops at loop point with Enso are a bummer. People report success at getting rid of them by recording only in overdub mode — after loading or recording a blank buffer. (From my limited testing it does seem to work.)

If the overdub workaround for Enso doesn’t work, RE1 might be worth a shot. It has an overdub mode for up to 8 measures.

Slightly off topic but harking back to the tremolo question… My wife’s work were selling off old hardware and she picked me up an iPad 4 for £10 last week. I’m paranoid about taking my Pro out of the house for fear of damaging it but I’m less nervous about this (although I have spent as much as the unit cost me on a decent case all the same!)

As it’s a less powerful, older (iOS 10) unit I’ve been picking up a couple of less resource heavy plugins to help lessen the load on the CPU and happened upon the excellent Flora Creative series which are really lightweight and only £1.99 each (or there’s a bundle of six of them for £9.99). The tremolo (Tiger-Lily) is really nice, as is the chorus (Cactus) and the delay (Dahlia). I can’t comment much on the others yet but I’ve no doubt they’ll be of a similar high standard. Their ethos is akin to that of classic guitar pedals so the layout is clean and uncluttered, doing simple functions to a high standard.

Thanks, brilliant idea! Gotta try both.

Great, is there really auv3 plugin for Tiger-Lily?

Yes, all of them are AU compatible!

The overdub hack in Enso kinda works, but then if you go half or quater speed - the click is sometimes there, in one (or the other) channel. Its not super obnoxious, tho, so I might rule this off as an intentional artistic choice

UPD: Basically Tiger-Lily is what exactly what I knew I wanted, and RE-1 is something I didn’t knew I wanted until I’ve tried it) You can ever interrupt the tape there)))

Thank you dearly everyone!

I’m absolutely loving Polyphase. The synth is great too, in a norns-y sort of way. But it doesn’t seem to integrate with AUM as easily as some other apps. Anyone using it and syncing happily with other apps? If so, help/pointers would be appreciated.

This is a long shot, but does anyone know of a female-lightning-to-male-USB-A cable / adapter that’s available? I’ve found some cables but none that transfer data. Trying to use my iPad midi interface with USB gear. To many connector types :pensive:

USB midi gear should work with an ipad with a Camera Connection Kit (male lightning to female USB-A)
The CCK can also plug into a USB hub, if you want to connect several devices at once, though powered hubs are better so that the iPad doesn’t have to supply too much power.
No special midi interface should be necessary (unless you’re talking USB-DIN)

yeah, +1 for CCK. It seems like you want CCK + a USB-A to A cable

edit * misread – female-lightning? What are you connecting that outputs male lightning?

Yeah I should have been more clear, I’m looking to go from USB A to DIN Midi, not using an iPad at all. I have a Lightning to DIN Midi interface that I’d like to use for that purpose and just convert the lightning connector to USB A.

My understanding of the CCK is that I would not be able to plug into the female lightning port and take the output from the female USB A port, right? That’s what I’m looking for. Asking @rknLA too :slightly_smiling_face:

Ah ok, so you have something like this:

And you want to go from that to USB without getting another MIDI interface?

I’m not 100% certain, but this matches my understanding as well. I don’t know of any such device that matches your needs as-described

I completely forgot that my Midi interface isn’t hard wired with a lightening connector but has a female USB B Port with a lightning dongle, which means all I need is a USB B to A cable :expressionless:

Sorry for the tangent, dongles forever!

My understanding is that USB requires both host and device, so you can’t connect a device to another device directly without going through a host.
I’ve used an axoloti to go from USB to DIN midi, because it can be a host and a device. The axoloti patch to do this is very simple.

A raspberry pi with a midi shield or midi-usb cable can do it too https://noisylittlebugger.net/2016/02/08/using-a-raspberry-pi-as-usb-midi-host/
.
And there’s https://www.retrokits.com/shop/rk005/ and this https://www.modemachines.com/cerebel-usb-v2 (cheaper) but I haven’t used either of them.

I did a Patterning 2. It’s silly levels of good. Anyone who doesn’t have it can grab it for the reduced price of £14.99 at the moment. I’ve never used an Elektron sampler but it feels like it has the power of something like an Elektron sampler, if that statement makes any sense at all!

Has anyone here ever made use of Remote Desktop to run Max on their iPad?

I’m a longtime Patterning fan. The pages feature in the newest has me giddy - it makes everything so much easier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAnQBiS4-E8&feature=youtu.be

Oh, dear gods - I didn’t even know about that! That is utterly wonderful! Are you using it for sounds other than drums? I basically want to use it for EVERYTHING at this stage!

Just drums for me, but I interface it to my modular so it also allows all kinds of crazy modulation and tuned drums.
The extra pages save me because I do longer patterns with lots of fast subdivisions. It’s always been my fastest way to sketch beats but now it’s gotten even better.

I’m absolutely enraptured by the Shbobo kits and the way it handles those sounds - especially with the ratcheting and effects - makes me keen to pursue more of that kind of non-drum territory.

I’ve been playing with probability and the Urn playback setting, getting beautiful results, especially when rendering out blocks and looping them in AUM.
