Does anyone know if Lemur is officially dead? I really wanted to use it with Ableton and Reaktor but it seems as though even the website is now defunct.

I don’t think there’s been a lot in the way of new development but I don’t think Lemur is dead. It looks like the folks at Liine need to update the SSL certificate, but the site is still there.

I do use Lemur, though I greatly prefer the design and feel of the components in Touch OSC. On the other hand, Lemur seems to have a more robust library of user contributed templates. Though, if you’re a Reaper user, I find the “LogicPad” template in Touch OSC to be beyond amazing.

I can also confirm that the editing software is still working under Mac OS Catalina for both Lemur and Touch OSC.

I think both Lemur and Touch OSC are worth having in your quiver, though.

I tried to access it earlier to ensure that I could get the Windows drivers if I bought the app but couldn’t access it. Usually I can bypass the warnings by removing the https “s” element but no joy this time. The thing that really pushes me to grab it is the idea of controlling the Cloudlab Reaktor ensemble using my iPad and running the output through outboard (pedals and the like). It would be worth the purchase price for that alone for me.

Right on, it sounds like the best thing to do then would be to wait for them to get their site sorted out before purchasing. Unfortunately I have no experience using the software on Windows, so I can’t comment on that.

So I’ve recently rediscovered my iPad as a great too for some effects and midi plumbing.

Does anyone have any app recommendations for micro-looping and some pitch shifting stuff? I have Samplr and I love it, but I’d like something that is more like an effect pedal and less like an oblique sampler.

I’m really jonesing to pick up a Count To 5 or a MOOD, but I’m not buying any more hardware until next year. I’m trying to see how close I can get with the iPad!

I’ve been wanting to do the same thing regarding a Morphagene to be honest. I can get closer on an iPad than on anything else I can see without going modular and that’s not happening (also: depth year, too)

Have you used Samplr? Morphagene really reminds me of it. It doesn’t do the same thing or work quite the same way, but it also does a lot of things MG doesn’t.

I’ve never used a Morphagene but are you aware of Simpliciter module by Nysthi on MIrack?
It may be similar,

edit: oops wrong quote

I have and it’s fantastic! I grabbed all the granular apps I could find and they all have their strong points but that’s the one I’m most drawn to on iPad (although I do really love Spacecraft too - especially on my phone)

That’s really impressive!

Seeing as you mentioned pitch shifting… after having to sell (for financial reasons) much of my Eurorack last year, I find myself trying to do more with the iPad. The other day I found myself missing the pitch-shifted delays of the Strymon Magneto and wanted to build a replacement in AUM (I couldn’t find an app that would do it - unless anyone has any recommendations?).

I used Eventide QVox (pitch shift) and K7D (tape delay) in the setup screenshot below to create the pitch shifted delays. I was pretty happy with it! It’s in QVox that you can set the specific pitch shift (one octave, a fifth, etc).

Zeeon is the synth passing audio into the two channels (A and B).

This looks excellent!

K7D is on my short list, as well as the other Eventide algorithms! I recently got Blackhole, and that has been a big driving force on realizing how much I’ve been underutilizing iPad.

I picked up true BLEASS delay, but my iPad doesn’t seem to like it very much. I’m hoping I can cancel my purchase and get K7D instead.

I initially bought the Source Audio Nemesis and Ventris at the tail end of 2019, to act as my nice OTB verb and delay. They sounded great, but I couldn’t justify the price so I sent them back with plans to replace them with plugins. A month or two later I bought the correct power supply for my interface, and now a whole world has opened up to me! Being able to use my iPad and interface away from the computer is massive.

20 characters of K7D being incredible.

I really like K7D! There are lots of other delay options (I have, Modley, Discord 4 and RE-1), but there’s a simplicity to K7D that I really appreciate. I was hoping I could reproduce the Magneto’s pitch-shifting delays with just Modley or just Discord 4 - but I could never quite get there. It’s a shame because I’d love to be able to do it in one plugin rather than creating a whole set of channels. K7D has wow/flutter options but the nice thing about my above setup is that I can bring my own tape-effects and reverb and can either apply them per pitch-shift channel or across all the channels.

The Eventide stuff is just lovely.

This is me! I actually have some others too (I have delay hoarding problems in hardware terms as well as on iOS…) and do really like all of them for different things but K7D has something that sets it apart. I need to try using it with QVox now though!

FieldScaper would be my ipad Morphagene-meets-Cocoquantus replacement. Kind of an obscure UI though. Takes some time to learn it.

You ain’t kidding about the UI. SoundScaper is only slightly less befuddling.

Phew, it’s not me! I love what it does, but it’s got the UI and ease of use of a 1990s statistics package.

I tried to make Lemur work a few weeks ago, but gave up. My idea was to use my phone as a remote for mainly Ableton transport when recording in a liveroom when my computer is in the control room.

I already owned Lemur since a few years back, but I’ll probably end up buying TouchAble Pro instead. It seems to be a more dedicated/specialized control surface for Live. Lemur might let you control many different things, but I don’t have the time, patience or knowledge to do that.

And yes, I couldn’t really understand how up-to-date Lemur is, since every template seemed to be made for Live 9 etc.
