Ape Matrix is amazing! I don’t use it as much as AUM simply because I’m more used to AUM so it’s easier to get working quickly but the ability to control basically everything with an LFO is I credible in Ape Matrix!

@DegradedEcho I’m not really sure what you’re trying to achieve so it’s difficult to attempt to offer an answer. I do use multiple iOS devices routed between one another but I use them in a way in which them being iOS device isn’t important i.e. I use audio interfaces to accept incoming audio from the output of another and to receive or send MIDI. In that setup they’re basically standalone audio/midi devices (either synths or samplers - or sequencers - depending on what I’m using them for.

@tapehead yeah, that’s an excellent call. Getting my head around using 4 track tape was a massively learning experience for me after working solely in the box or through synced ADATs.

Has anyone tried out the new Ninja Jamm Pro iPad app yet?

The ui looks like a lot of fun

I have it but my iPad Air first generation is too slow to run it without bad glitches…

It’s really cool though!

Hmm, I just have an A10 9.7. Usually powerful enough for most things. I’m intrigued by that loop slicer, which looks very “inspired” by MLR…

35 seconds in.

Ah, dammit, I’d manage to not buy it so far too…

skips off to the app store

Don’t get too lost in it before coming back to let us know how it is.

Had a quick 5 mins last night to see if it was an MLR imitation. It didn’t glitch out on my A10 9.7, but it does say it’s a CPU hog.

It’s so mamouth and the UI is pretty abstract that it’s all a bit trial and error on first use. FX sound very good, and I’m up for investing a bit more into it.

I need to find a manual.

Well, ignoring the caveat of bluetooth output, I quite like the Zoom U-24; it’s a battery powered class compliant audio interface that also has midi din. Ipad with cck can take 2 channels of incomiing audio, apply effects or other ipad apps mixed into output back to the U-24.
There are some audio to bluetooth dongles available, but I’d imagine the latency wouldn’t be great?

I like my U-24 too. For my current uses I could probably use it with my desktop to be honest. Sturdy little interface, that one.

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 with USBC. I would like to use it as a sound source. Apps like EGLM1 drum machine, Animoog, ect. Wondering people are using DAC wise to get a high quality audio output to go to DAWs and or live setups. I was looking at the new Apogee Symphony but wondering what others are using.

If you’re on Mac, you can just plug the USB C between your iPad and Mac, set up the iPad to be an audio source and get digital audio straight into a DAW. Very handy.

I ended up refunding Jamm Pro. I just didn’t get what was going on with it at all. Although the results were pleasing. They were not under my control.

Samplr is far more pleasurable to manipulate and play samples.

Also, This AudioLayer app looks really useful for anyone wanting to build up sampled instruments. Autosampling has just been added, which looks so, so useful.

I like Cubasis and find it easy to use. But it only has a grid in 4/4 with no meter or tempo changes. More and more this makes me not want to use it at all.

I’m going to be giving an iPad Pro a try as a mostly laptop replacement, but I’m somewhat new to iPadOS. Last iPad was an Air quite a few years back, so some fresh new things in store for me.

I’m trying to wrap my head around a simple audio workflow. Goal is to use the iPad for live processing of the modular, record single-take tracks, and then do final mixing on my laptop.

  1. With modular out going through interface, use AUM for effects inserts. Easy peasy.
  2. Record in AUM — this is where things get hazy for me. This requires Audioshare, yes? It looks like I can easily pull files to my laptop either via their Wi-Fi sharing feature or I can use an external USB-C drive and access from Files. But is there any way to just keep my Audioshare project folders always in sync with a folder on my laptop, w/o the need for ad hoc transfers? I want to automatically backup my Audioshare work weekly to my home server — that’d be easy to do if it was on my laptop (just using rsync), but not sure how to do that with iPad/Audioshare.

If I remember correctly, you can record each track in Aum as audio without the need for Audio Share.

I’m a Mac user, and use iCloud for some of my storage. This is handy for me because AUM stores its recording in iCloud, so by default anything I record there is immediately(ish) available on my other devices. Same is true in reverse, I can export stems from Reaper into an audio folder and then have them available to the iPad.

Hope that helps, that’s as gar as I’ve gotten in my desktop / tablet workflow cycle.

I wish it had that ability with Dropbox. Maybe I should swallow my pride and switch to iCloud.

 I hear you, I felt the same way but found that iCloud is pretty handy if you’ve got multiple Apple devices that support it properly.

I still use Dropox minimally, but am phasing it out.

Anyone have any recommendations for spectral processing apps that I could check out? Please and thank you!

Can’t think of any for iOS, but the Michael Norris spectral vst series is free on PC and Mac, and pretty thorough, if you haven’t seen them yet.
I’m curious about iOS versions too though; would love that.
