Drum Computer looks absolutely superb! On the expensive side of things, but if it genuinely is a single-solution drum package it’s arguably fair value. I downloaded the demo version so I’ll play around with it before I drop the money. A purchase does look inevitable though!
I’m not sure if I mentioned it already but Caelum Audio dropped their first paid-for app and it’s superb. Following their two already available Cassette plugins, Tape Pro is kind of an “all that and a whole lot more” - plus it’s on intro pricing at the moment at only £3.99.
This might not be the ideal way to share this but I couldn’t think of another so I did it via Instagram. This is four channels in AUM using a series of apps and effects to introduce randomness and movement into static loops and sequences. The approach is varied: some channels feature effects that slice up and re-sequence loops; others use the built-in probability aspects of the apps themselves.
The AUM breakdown is:
Ch. 1:
Spectrum (Modal) is providing the melodic element. That’s being run through through Spectrum (Gran), Wave Folder and Tape Pro. It’s being chopped up by Bram Bos’ Scatterbrain to add some variation to what is essentially a very simple melody.
Ch. 2:
Ruismaker Noir through Spectrum (Res), Bleass Filter & iVCS3 Spring. Just percussive clicks and upper frequency textures.
Ch. 3:
A drum loop run through Scatterbrain to give it variety, then Klevgrand DAW Cassette to add dirt and character.
Ch. 4:
Patterning 2 providing CR78 hits - mostly hihats and top end percussion sounds.
Ch.5:
This is the master channel which the other four pass through before being output. Bleass Sidekick adds the kick drum pulse which is tuned to the frequency of the root note of Ch.1’s melody (E).
[Ch. 1 and Sidekick on Ch. 5 are sequenced by Xequence 2; Ch. 2 & 4 sequenced by Ruismaker Noir and Patterning 2 respectively. Ch. 3 is just a drum loop trigged within AUM’s file player]
