I love snakebud! Overtly inspired by Rene…

I’m using the randomize function a lot, really great!

I keep meaning to do this. I’ve used the Turing Machine script for Mozaic a load (another fantastic @burns_audio creation, unless I’m mistaken) but have never pursued it further than that. MiRack always draws me into convoluted signal paths I can never quite follow (which remind me why I’ve never gone down the Eurorack rabbithole further than semi-modulars) and I forget that I could utilise it as a sequencer for AUv3s and even external hardware

hey koala users, what’s your setup for loading drum samples? I have a library i’d like to use, but it’s a bit of a drag to scroll through the folders each time without being able to preview.

I need help!
I just upgraded my iPad to a newer model with USB C powering and connectivity.
I purchased an Anker USB hub so that I could power the iPad and connect my new 7 port USB to it and also pass power through it. There is a power through input. But it doesn’t charge the iPad. After much googling I conclude that it doesn’t pass enough amperage to charge the iPad. It might charge an iPhone.

I need a solution. On the previous lightning connector iPad the camera adapter did the job, but Apple don’t seem to offer one with USB C connectivity.

I’m guessing I’m missing some massively obvious solution. Lot’s of people must be charging their iPads whilst connected to USB devices, surely?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There’s a 3-port adapter that I’m using. I’m not able to get to it at the moment but I’ll try to later. It has a hdmi port

Thanks. I see it here I was hoping for something with 2 USB C ports, one for power and one to connect my 7 port hub, but I may need to find a new cable to connect the hub. Grr.

I am using mine to power my iPad Air 4 and a mOTU M4 off of a powered USB hub, but it’s been a while so I don’t remember off the top of my head. I need to set it up and take a picture or two.

I can assure that I not only got the iPad charging and the M4 interfacing, but also powered a USB mini keyboard, which played the iPad synths… So it can be done…

Also - not quite apropos of nothing - but there appears to have been a new iOS update which has rendered AUM virtually useless - it can’t load external instruments, and Ableton Link seems to have gone awol… Hair tearing afternoon!

Thanks for the heads-up!

Is it the hub that’s not passing enough power, or the brick you’re using?

That Amazon page says it provides 85W pass through charging with a 100W brick (which should be more than enough for an iPad), but if you’re using the provided power brick from apple, and the hub is only providing 85% efficiency, then that seems like it could be the problem.

Well, the brick provided by Apple works fine to charge to iPad when connected directly, but not when it goes ‘through’ the hub.

Right, because the hub itself is consuming some of the power from the brick. I don’t know if Apple provides bricks with enough wiggle-room to cover extra power, or if they’re exactly matched to what the device needs. (Based on your experience, it sounds pretty closely matched)

Based on this image on the product page you linked, the hub either only passes through 85% of the power provided to it, or it just always consumes 15 watts (or, possibly something in between), so you can check if it really is a brick sizing issue if you have another USB-C brick available, which is at least 15 watts more than the one provided, or at least 1.18 times the included brick’s wattage (1.18 is roughly 100/85).

If it works with a larger brick, then there’s your answer. If it doesn’t, then my theory is bunk and I’d suggest looking for a different hub.

My hub is stated to be fully powered, which I believe means it has enough juice to power each port fully. Some hubs are under powered and as you add additional devices, the power available to any of them declines.

It was the brick. I was using a weaker phone one, which had been fine for the older iPad, but not the new one. All good now, and I don’t need to give Apple another $60! Thanks, everyone. //// is the best!

What version are you talking about? 15.1.1? Running 15.1 and it’s fine.

15.1
Hard enough to even establish that. Settings crashes when I choose ‘About’!
I’m going to try to find some courage to try again this afternoon and see if I can find some logic in the chaos…

Animoog Z, a worthy successor to the original.

Patch randomizer made it through intact, nice.

To conclude my review, worth way more than the 10 USD they’re charging.

A reason to get an iPad? Probably not but still a great, deep, endless, phat, weird synth.
