there’s a long story to tell about this very short beat tape
[made last year before tiring of ableton-only production and buying a glut of hardware samplers]

i wish ya’ll heard it back then to “understand” the music which came after…but it’s still cool to compare the styles now

Super sick tape. “Catch your breath” is probably my favorite on the tape on first listen. I can relate to the DAW fatigue too…

thanks everyone

the overarching story: zvk was meant to be one side of a split cassette/boxset with some friends…2020 was so crazy that only my portion got done despite their best efforts

so the tracks were really intimately crafted to sit adjacent to their work and focus more explicitly on hip hop production

(and fit on a 12min side)

individual tracks differ but majority of the time i’d make a short rtm in ableton, loop and resample it, then play 128+aalto over parts
