I came into music production via hip-hop, first appearing on vinyl in 1999. I contributed tracks and releases to Lex, Needlework, 7 Hills, 2600 Recordings and others under the name Waxfactor. These days I work with the incredible I Had An Accident label under the name Pete Sasqwax. No idea what you’d call what I make. It has its roots in drum-heavy hip-hop, but incorporates analog synths and guitar pedals rather than samples. For whatever it’s worth, I generally refer to it as dirtbeat.
